Waking up and looking at the Navigator's status panel, Alvin rubbed his temples. "Time passes so quickly. In the blink of an eye, it's already the third day."
He had basically given up hope on replenishing the Navigator System's energy.
He had asked if electricity could be used to supplement the energy, but the reply was no. The reason was complex, mainly that the energy level was too low.
Unless it was the power supply of an entire America, it would be a drop in the bucket for the Navigator System.
Nuclear energy would meet the requirements, but the problem was that it needed to be at least "controlled nuclear fusion" level energy. Clearly, the world of The Boys had not yet overcome this technological hurdle.
In conclusion, the time left for Alvin was a mere seven days!
"Next, it's Homelander."
Alvin took a deep breath, as this decision was very dangerous.
Homelander, the most dangerous character in the entire show, had the template of DC's Superman.
Although he was weakened in all aspects, he was by no means someone an ordinary person could mess with. A slight misstep could lead to being vaporized by a laser.
Moreover, Homelander definitely belonged to the psychologically twisted, perverted type.
This character was like the opposite of DC's Superman, a "Superman" who was not adopted by the Kent family but grew up in a distorted environment.
Of course, Alvin wasn't reckless; he wouldn't do anything suicidal.
Although Homelander appeared perverse and extreme in every way, he was actually more like someone who was extremely fragile internally, craving love and attention due to a lack thereof.
This was thanks to Vought International, who planted seeds in him during his childhood to control him.
They implanted psychological flaws in Homelander such as: needing love, a mother complex, and a craving for recognition and attention.
A comical scene in the show showed Homelander, who was bulletproof, could fly at supersonic speeds, and whose heat vision was unstoppable, frantically worrying because his approval rating had dropped by 9.5%.
He constantly shouted, "I am God," and then stood on a tall building at night, masturbating while looking at the moon.
At least, in Alvin's opinion, early-stage Homelander was far from that unhinged; he was still in a controllable state.
As long as he could maintain the right balance, even Homelander could be "negotiated" with.
"I hope everything goes smoothly with Butcher on his end."
After a simple wash-up, Alvin left the hotel.
Next, he needed to make some preparations. Directly confronting Homelander was too dangerous. He would only consider it after the temporary Compound V arrived.
He used a public phone by the roadside to call Butcher. "I need Hughie to help me simulate The Invisible Man's chip signal. Can you do it?"
"What are you planning to do?"
Butcher's voice was noticeably tense.
"Nothing much, just inviting a friend over."
Alvin's tone was light, as if he were just chatting.
But to Butcher, it only increased his unease. "Listen, don't do anything reckless. If Homelander finds out, we'll all be dragged down with you!"
"Don't worry, Mr. Butcher." Alvin looked up at the Vought building towering opposite him and smiled slightly. "I won't joke about my own life."
The top-floor conference room of Vought International was designed like an ancient Greek building, perfectly blending modern and classical styles.
In the large circular hall, the most conspicuous was the triangular conference table, and the seven chairs beside it belonged to the well-known and beloved The Seven!
Queen Maeve, Black Noir, Deep, and Locomotive had arrived early for the daily routine meeting.
A moment later, Homelander arrived. He strode into the conference hall, habitually scanned the room, and frowned. "Where's The Invisible Man?"
"Probably stayed out too late last night?" Locomotive shrugged, unconcerned.
Homelander's expression turned grim, clearly displeased. He sat in his designated seat and was about to reprimand them when he saw Ashley, the head of HR, run in with a pale face, in a state of panic. "No, no, this is bad, something big has happened!"
"Ashley, calm down."
Homelander maintained his stern demeanor and said in a low voice, "What exactly happened?"
"The Invisible Man, The Invisible Man has been kidnapped!" Ashley swallowed nervously and handed him a USB drive. "I just received a package addressed to you. I thought it was a fan's gift, but I didn't expect it to be a video of The Invisible Man being kidnapped!"
The Invisible Man kidnapped?!
The members of The Seven present all showed surprise on their faces.
Homelander didn't take the USB drive. Instead, he glanced at Locomotive, who understood immediately. Locomotive walked over, retrieved the USB drive, and plugged it into the nearby display device.
After a flicker of static, the screen quickly showed an image.
Under dim, yellow light, it was a long-abandoned room, filthy and messy, with yellowed stains covering the walls.
However, in the center of the room was a cage welded from steel bars. It seemed empty, yet curses continuously emanated from within.
"That's The Invisible Man's voice!" Locomotive exclaimed.
Immediately after, the video feed was interrupted, flickering with static.
After a few seconds, just when they thought it was over, a pale mask suddenly appeared on the screen.
The mask, at first glance, was extremely unsettling.
The cheekbones and the bridge of the nose protruded high on the face, while the eye sockets and jaw were sunken in, the facial proportions extremely disharmonious.
The mask's cheekbones were painted with eerie blood-red spirals, the lips smeared as if with fresh blood. Two blood-red eyes, dotted with black pupils, resembled the vengeful spirits from a horror movie, staring directly at them through the video.
Even though they had encountered many brutal criminals, that mask still made them feel a physical and mental discomfort.
"Hello, John, I want to play a game with you."
"Many people live in this world without ever knowing why they were born, merely drifting along habitually."
"Some are born happy, loved by their parents, yet never learn to be grateful, while others must spend their entire lives trying to make up for childhood regrets."
"God has granted you omnipotent power, but the price is the deprivation of everything you have."
"You yearn for 'love,' yet willingly sink into a sweet nest woven from lies, deceiving yourself."
"Therefore, I have given you two choices."
"The game is simple: find my location, then rescue The Invisible Man."
"I have planted a bomb inside The Invisible Man. The time limit is 24 hours. If you fail, I will release this video to the public."
"At that time, people will discover that the god they imagined to be omnipotent is merely a pathetic, love-starved mortal with personality flaws."
"And you, John, will fall from grace."
"This is the price of the game."
The video finally froze on the mask's sinister pupils, sending a chill down their spines.
"Who is John?"
Deep hadn't quite processed it yet and blurted out the question blankly.
Then, he saw Queen Maeve, Locomotive, and Black Noir cast him glances filled with pity.
BANG!
The next second, Deep was sent flying backward like a cannonball, crashing directly into the monitor.
Before he lost consciousness from his severe injuries, Deep's mind suddenly became clear: Oh, so Homelander's name is John.
The atmosphere in the conference room instantly dropped to freezing point.
Homelander exuded a terrifying killing intent, his eyes dark and violent, like a volcano on the verge of eruption. "Find him. Find him for me. I will personally... kill that bastard!"
Playing solo is really boring, does anyone want to say something?
