Background / History

At six, Jia Meng is the Jia Meng Family's Divine Son and an awakened curse-technique user. His ability to convert cursed energy into blood earns him preferential family resources, but also makes him a black-market target; the Divine Curse Sect attacks him during an outing to Thousand Herb Mountain. Jia Meng had detected the assassins through his sensitivity to the scent of blood and defeats them with calculated force. 2

Following the assassination attempt, Jia Meng represents his family at a banquet involving the three great clans. There he meets Wusiwu, later competes against him, and fights Wutiao Satoru to a draw. His performance causes his bounty to rise from 1,000 spirit stones to 100 million. 3 5 6

The family head entrusts Jia Meng with the hereditary Black Box, whose Red Glowing Eye had resisted every previous family head. Jia Meng opens it with blood created from cursed energy, survives its blood-red cocoon, and awakens the true Crimson Blood Demon Eye. 6 7
