Molin felt useless in the army. He had intended to spend the rest of his life avenging the Old Khan King, but the Dragon King wouldn't let him go to Jade City to seek out Moonlight Hall.
As a Wing Guard, Molin commanded immense respect among the Northern Court soldiers. Whether they had ever met him or not, just hearing his old name, "Silver Eagle," still earned him their admiration. He was like a relic of the Old Khan King left behind in this world: weathered, yet wrapped in a sacred glow.
That was precisely why the Dragon King had kept him close.
Molin rather liked the young man, and had willingly bound his revenge to the Dragon King's. But he was a little impatient, eager to get things underway as soon as possible.
Perhaps that impatience was what had drawn the persuader to him.
After repeated persuasion and assurances, Molin agreed to step into an ordinary tent. To his surprise, the persuader was Prince Dudun himself.
"Your Highness." Molin gave a slight nod. He had given up his position as a Wing Guard, but still kept the old habits. He would not kneel to the Khan King's descendants.
Dudun had decided to make his pitch in person. Smiling, he said, "Didn't expect it to be me?"
"Your Highness thinks too highly of me." Molin truly hadn't expected it. He'd assumed the persuader would be some officer, perhaps A Zheba.
"Heh. To win you over, I'd be willing to lose an entire army."
Molin didn't respond. The Khan's Wing Guards were forbidden to accept flattery or favors from any member of the royal family. It was their duty, their bottom line. The Old Khan King had ascended to heaven, but his influence had not weakened in the slightest.
