Background / History

The Primordial Wilderness was created when Pangu split open Chaos and opened Heaven and Earth. Pangu fought the Three Thousand Chaos Demon Gods, slaying nearly all of them before dying and transforming into all things within the new world. A small number of Demon Gods survived or reincarnated, remaining hostile to the world Pangu created. 3

It is a top-tier Greater Thousand World with abundant Spiritual Treasures and spiritual roots. Pangu had intended to elevate it into an Eternal World, a higher world-state free of calamities, but did not succeed. 53

Following the Dragon Han Calamity, the Dragon, Phoenix, and Qilin Clans declined, while the Witch Clan expanded across the wilderness. The rise of the Demon Race, the Immortal Court, and later the Heavenly Court fractured control of the world among competing powers. 16 34 42

Hongjun's attainment of Sagehood and his three sermons at Purple Cloud Palace established the Sage path as the central pursuit of the era. After Hongjun harmonized with the Heavenly Dao, the world's fate and Heavenly Dao influence became markedly stronger. 7 48

Hou Tu's establishment of the Six Paths of Reincarnation brought the Great Dao's recognition and permanently changed the world's cycle of life and death. Nüwa subsequently created the Human Race, which was later recognized as the protagonist of Heaven, Earth, and Humanity after the decline of the Witch and Demon Clans. 67 70 125

Cosmology

Creation and Chaos

Before the Primordial Wilderness existed, Chaos was inhabited by the Three Thousand Chaos Demon Gods. Pangu's Heaven-Opening Calamity destroyed most of them, but survivors such as Yang Mei and Rahula later reincarnated or remained active. 3

Chaos lies beyond the Primordial Wilderness rather than within it. Cultivators must cross the Primordial Membrane to enter it, where Chaos Gang Wind can tear apart inadequately protected beings. 7

The Great Dao and the Heavenly Dao

The Great Dao is described as an existence more profound than the Heavenly Dao. It governed the Primordial Wilderness before the Heavenly Dao emerged, but has since largely remained in seclusion. 67

The Heavenly Dao acts to preserve the world's order and suppress threats left behind from Chaos. It sealed the Nine Demon Tower and its Chaos Demon Gods rather than attempting to destroy all of them at once. 6

After becoming a Sage, Hongjun merged with the Heavenly Dao. This strengthened the Heavenly Dao's control over the Primordial Wilderness and allowed Hongjun to wield its power. 48

External Worlds

The Primordial Wilderness is not the only world in existence. The First Realm, Hongjun's original world, was already nearing exhaustion when its powerful ruler sent Hongjun to explore the Primordial Wilderness. 166

The Ten Thousand Realms Ancient Tree can open passages to other worlds. Through it, Styx entered the Ten Thousand Treasures World, whose Heavenly Lord possessed the Chaos Spiritual Treasure known as the Nine Heavens Ten Thousand Treasures Cauldron. 174 175

The Ten Thousand Treasures World's forces were already planning to attack the Primordial Wilderness, identifying it as the world connected to the “First God.” 176
