The mist had spread, swallowing villages and towns, turning people and livestock into Corpse Puppets.
Yet there was no mention of the three Demon Kings.
He looked at Mo Qianqiu. "That's all?"
Mo Qianqiu nodded. "That's all. Marshal Xu's memorial mentioned only the mist and the Corpse Puppets—nothing else."
Lu Chen fell into thought.
Previously, three late-stage Supernatural Power enshrined elders from the Hall of Offerings had joined forces to investigate. Two had died and one had been gravely wounded, bringing back the words, "They're looking for something." Yet Xu Polu's urgent report had not mentioned it at all.
Had he forgotten? Or was he deliberately concealing it?
After pondering for a moment, Lu Chen rose to his feet. "I'm going."
Mo Qianqiu froze. "Now? But the Southern Frontier..."
"The Southern Frontier can wait," Lu Chen said. "Let's take a look at the Northern Frontier first."
He offered no further explanation and strode out of the secret chamber.
Outside, the sky was just beginning to brighten.
On the drill grounds, more than 9,800 Demon Suppression Army soldiers were engaged in morning training, their battle cries shaking the heavens. Lei Ba was leading the Vanguard Battalion in charge drills, while Han Lie was teaching the cavalry mounted archery. Everything was in perfect order.

Three hours later, Northern Garrison Pass came into view in the distance.
