What the hell was wrong with my body?
Compared to my mouth, which still hadn't recovered, my body had improved a lot. At least it was obeying my commands normally again.
I could move my limbs and everything,
but this feeling of weakness stunned me. Even more shocking was how thin I'd become.
There wasn't an ounce of flesh on me; I was practically skin and bones, barely any different from a dried corpse. At least my skin still retained some moisture, but everywhere else—
I had no fat to speak of, and even my muscles had gone soft.
I picked up some compressed biscuits and polished off three packs in one go, then took a sip of water.
I had to ration the water.
I could feel the food entering my stomach, but my body digested it at an astonishing speed, as if I hadn't eaten anything at all. I didn't feel full in the slightest.
After a moment's thought, I picked up three more packs of compressed biscuits and started crunching away.
Then another three packs.
And three more.
By the end, I stared at the empty wrappers scattered across the floor, astonished by my digestion. It had returned to its peak, and nearly all the food was digested the instant it entered my stomach, without a trace left behind.
By now, I seemed to have regained a little strength, too. Picking up the water bottle was clearly less of a struggle than it had been at first.
At first, I'd needed both hands to hold it. Now I could pick it up with one.
I couldn't tell if that was because there was less water or because my body was recovering.
I drank a little more, leaving half the water in the bottle, then set it aside
