I hesitated for a moment, then continued forward. No matter how dangerous it was, I had to keep going. Otherwise, what had I come here for?
Bored, I drove along while singing.
"Doo-doo~ doo-doo~"
As I hummed, I remembered a movie I'd seen before.
"Secret moves... peerless martial arts~ How many in this world can reach the summit~"
I sang as I drove. As it happened, that song was on the car's MP3 player too. Singing along with the familiar voice, I soon
came to a bridge.
This bridge was... seriously dangerous.
Maybe because the surrounding area was covered in so much yellow sand, the water here was crystal clear. The bridge itself, however, looked terribly dilapidated. Thick sand covered most of the bridge deck, and of the dozens of pillars beneath it, only half remained. In many places, there were support pillars on just one side.
I hesitated and looked at the road ahead.
"Damn it, here goes!"
Gritting my teeth, I faced a place that was terribly unsuited to me, because I couldn't swim.
I cautiously drove the car onto the bridge, inch by inch. The moment I reached the entrance, the bridge groaned under the weight.
"Creak, creak, creak~"
Every bit of my attention was fixed on what I could see. I opened the car door and slowly inched forward, watching the situation below.
"Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh~"
The river surged beneath me. As the whole car rolled onto the bridge, chunks of sand and concrete fell into the water with a series of splashes. The bridge stood several meters above the water. Fortunately, it hadn't been knocked down. Could it be that the giant turtle hadn't come from upstream, but had lived in this reservoir all along?
I gritted my teeth and kept driving. Inch by inch,
