A huge tail. Nothing else had grown.
Well, it looked like I hadn't grown gills.
Then how was I breathing?
I raised my hand and looked at the shrimp I was still holding.
That would be dinner tonight.
I walked step by step onto the bank. I hadn't felt it as strongly while I was in the water, but once I was on land, I could clearly feel my tail.
It was a little heavy, but incredibly powerful. I even felt that my left leg couldn't match its strength.
My left leg had been broken before, so it was much stronger than the other one. But now I felt... even both my legs together couldn't match the strength of this tail.
Did this count as... a physical mutation?
I looked back at my tail. It felt a little strange.
But I thought... this tail should be pretty useful, right?
Why not test its strength?
After thinking it over, I suddenly whipped it at the water!
"Bang!"
A loud explosion! It sounded just like an M500 firing. The water shot up more than ten meters, and my tail struck the riverbed directly, as if it had hit a rock!
"Rumble~"
The water instantly turned murky. A few chunks of broken stone flew out, bounced on the surface a couple of times, then sank.
I stared wide-eyed at the tail behind me, then dumbly at the huge rock—about two meters across—that had been left beneath the water. My single strike had smashed it into dozens of pieces.
I opened my mouth. My lips felt dry. I wanted to say something... but didn't know what.
I stood there, stunned for a long while.
"Have I... turned into a monster?"
I moved my tail. It felt very strange. Its muscles connected to my waist
