Were they, as Scarface had said, an organization called the New World?
Or was it as Li Xie had said—that Scarface had regained his memories and contacted a group of mysterious people?
By now, I had no way to verify any of this. And there was one person involved who was rather interesting.
Ham.
He was caught between the two sides, yet stayed outside their area of conflict. From either side's point of view, he really was
an idiot, doing nothing and knowing
nothing.
And yet... in my view, Ham was the truly clever one.
He was watching the tigers fight from the mountain.
I thought Ham must have known about some sort of conflict between the two sides. He might even have known a few other things.
Thinking of that, I couldn't help wanting to go see Ham.
In any case, since he stayed outside the conflict, he must have seen more than the others. And that might very well be the key to unraveling the mystery.
If Ham really knew nothing, that was possible too. It would mean he had no intention of getting involved in the struggle between the two sides. But then, what was
his goal?
Was he watching the tigers fight from the mountain, waiting to swoop in and reap the benefits? Hoping to become the base's new master?
Or was he secretly watching from the shadows, waiting for his chance to wipe them all out? A schemer lurking in a dark corner?
Or maybe... he was hiding himself and conserving his strength so he could better protect Juanjuan? A corner
No, this was too complicated.
I had far too little evidence to make any concrete deductions.
By my reasoning, none of this held up, because... everything I'd heard came from one
