Ning Jing walked over to the bed nearby. Without any hesitation, she lay down and closed her eyes. Her face was a little pale. It was probably because of the sudden shift from cold to hot that she was feeling a bit unwell.
There wasn't anything I could do to help her, so I shrugged. Just then, a group of soldiers came in, setting down the things they were carrying. As I watched, they assembled a stove and placed all sorts of things beside it.
Then one of them walked over and looked at me.

I nodded at the soldier. He nodded back, then turned around and got a fire going. After heating some oil, he put some wide noodles into a bowl, sprinkled on plenty of dried chili flakes, scallions, onions, and a few other things, then piled it all into a bowl nearly the size of a washbasin.
Next, he scooped up a big ladleful of the sizzling oil and poured it right over the noodles!
