How to Take on a Titan

At this year's God of War Festival, if there was one thing Yu Lian absolutely wanted to see, it was naturally a Titan—a behemoth said to be capable of suppressing an entire star sector all by herself. They were the largest and most powerful spacecraft ever built in the history of galactic civilization, and represented the authority of the two great factions.

In terms of tonnage and size, some super-dreadnoughts weren't necessarily any smaller than Titans. They, too, were covered in armor and shields capable of withstanding a star's helium flash at close range, and equipped with enough weapons to destroy hundreds of inhabited planets. They could also draw energy from the light of stars and roam the heavens with virtually unlimited power.

However, every Titan possessed mysterious qualities that no other warship had. It wasn't simply a matter of installing a few psionic arrays and alchemical weapons aboard.

It was said—though, of course, it was only a rumor—that every Titan had a soul. Each Titan was, in fact, alive.

It was also said that when Titans were upgraded, it was less a matter of replacing them with more powerful warships and more like giving those living "ship spirits" a more suitable body.

...Of course, all of the above were ultimately just urban legends. Even Yu Lian, with the experience of his previous life, couldn't be completely sure. The closest he had ever gotten to a Titan was when he and his comrades in the Volunteer Army had successfully boarded the Dawn Angel and launched a suicide assault on the bridge.

Their goal had been to assassinate Empress Brunhild, who had already ascended the imperial throne. It was the bloodiest battle Yu Lian had ever experienced in either life. With every step they took, one or two battle-hardened comrades fell.
