Background / History
Mu initially lived publicly as Hyuga Yunchuan, a member of the Hyuga Clan’s branch family. He endured the Main Family’s hierarchy while developing exceptional taijutsu, repeatedly standing against Hyuga Aoi’s mistreatment of branch-family members. He also concealed his motives through calculated lies that produced Reality Points. 8 12
His early rise relied on relentless physical training, the Eight Gates, an activated Ōtsutsuki bloodline, and newly manifested techniques. He used these gains to outmaneuver Root operatives, manipulate Hyuga internal affairs, and take control of both Hyuga Hiashi and Hizashi Hyuga during the scheme that replaced the clan head. 6 20 24 29
As his influence expanded, he created the Seven Deadly Sins weapons to establish the reputation of “Ōtsutsuki Yunshi” through their wielders. He also arranged events involving Hollows, Menos, Espada, soul experiments, and powerful spiritual bodies while keeping his larger plans hidden. 99 129 141
Mu later became head of the Hyuga Clan and publicly revealed that the Byakugan could evolve into the Tenseigan. After becoming Hokage, he reformed Konoha’s educational system, abolished the daimyo system, dissolved Konohagakure into a national Land of Fire structure, and centralized the ninja forces under the Hokage. 330 370 429
He was ultimately revealed to be Ōtsutsuki Yunshi. Under that identity, he sought to spread meditation and protection techniques throughout the Land of Fire, both strengthening the population and increasing the spiritual energy needed for his final plan. 430
Personality
Mu is composed, strategic, and willing to use deception, coercion, and long-term manipulation to achieve his objectives. He often presents only the explanation that best serves his plans, such as concealing the actual conditions for awakening the Tenseigan. 272
Despite his ruthlessness toward enemies and tools, he also displays responsibility toward Konoha and its people. He protects civilians during the attack on Konoha, supports Hyuga branch-family members, and pursues reforms intended to cultivate individual talent rather than preserve ineffective traditions. 212 296 370
He regards power as something that must be supported by physical ability, speed, and reaction time; a powerful technique alone is insufficient if its user cannot apply it in battle. 562
