"Wang Yan, why are you back? Couldn't hold out anymore?"
Wang Shouyi was smoking beside the flower bed in the back courtyard. He smiled as he watched Wang Yan walk in. "Have you eaten? If not, go get something from the cafeteria. There are still some leftovers."
"I already ate. I came back to report something."
"Let's hear it." Wang Shouyi was interested.
"There's a place on Qinglin Road called the Shared Joy Chess and Card Room. It's suspected of organizing gambling. I heard they start gambling after eight o'clock every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Small games involve thousands in wins and losses per round, while big games can run into tens of thousands. There are even people specifically recruiting and luring others in to gamble. I suspect there may also be rigged games and fraud involved."
"Qinglin Road is in our jurisdiction... How did you find out?"
"By visiting residents. At the easternmost end of Dongning Village, there's a man named Zhao Xianming. One look told me he hadn't been sleeping well. His hands had calluses from playing mahjong, and he even had Double Color Ball trend charts at home. He's got a gambling habit. I gave him a little legal education and scared him a bit, and he confessed everything. He said someone pulled him into it last September. At first, he won a hundred and fifty to a hundred and sixty thousand, but over the last two or three months he lost it all back, plus another thirty thousand or so."
Wang Shouyi nodded approvingly. "Looks like our work with the public wasn't thorough enough before. Look at that—you've only been out four days, right? And you've already uncovered something new."
"Oh, come on. The way you put it, you might as well point at Zhang's nose
