"What are you busy with?"
At home, Wei Lan saw Wang Yan fiddling with some software she could not understand, seemingly for making graphics, and could not help asking curiously.
"Designing a house. Haven't I been talking with the Ninth Bureau's designers about the architectural plans for our headquarters lately? I figured I'd teach myself some of this stuff too, so it'd be easier to communicate with them. Didn't I tell you before that the land for our home had already been marked out? It's a good chance to practice and design one myself."
"It's only been half a month, right? You already learned it?" Wei Lan was briefly surprised, then realized she had grown used to such things. She asked curiously, "Don't you have a render? Like the kind developers use?"
"I do. Here, take a look. What do you think?"
After a few clicks from Wang Yan, a 3D rendering appeared on the computer screen.
It was a three-and-a-half-story building with gray tiles and white walls. The first floor was underground, while the second and third floors were staggered, creating a garage on one side and a terrace on the other. There were small courtyards in both the front and back, complete with a swing, a gazebo, and rendered flowers and greenery.
"The footprint is three hundred square meters, with an interior area of around five hundred and sixty square meters. There are three bedrooms with private bathrooms and walk-in closets. We'll take one upstairs, and the two downstairs will be for the kids. The rest are functional rooms—study, kitchen, dining room, and so on..."
As she listened to Wang Yan's explanation, Wei Lan pictured the scene based on what she knew about the location.
Their house would be on the north bank of the Six Branches River.
