Shi Lan silently absorbed the abundant spiritual energy within the dragon's lair. The faint golden light of fortune had long since been devoured.
Through a hazy sensation, Shi Lan could tell that a strange force had changed something within her, something she couldn't quite put into words.
Her fortune.
As spiritual energy entered her body, Shi Lan's cultivation also rose steadily. But spiritual energy did far less to advance her in the Body Tempering Realm than the vital essence of flesh and blood.
An hour's time had only brought her to the second layer of the Body Tempering Realm, still a long way from the third.
Whoosh!
The wind rustled. Shi Lan felt a fierce gust bearing down on her, followed by an aura of formidable power that made no attempt to conceal itself.
Before she could open her eyes, Shi Lan forcibly halted her cultivation, slapped one hand against the ground, and sprang up, darting to the side. The nine spirit crystals at the nodes of the spirit-seizing formation jolted into the air, and she stowed them in the system's temporary storage.
Boom!
A dull thud rang out. The spot where Shi Lan had been standing caved in, leaving a deep pit four feet across. The formation patterns of the spirit-seizing array instantly crumbled as well.
Shi Lan slid to the spring at the heart of the dragon's lair and tucked the sky-blue fruit into her sleeve. She retreated several steps, came to A-Qi's side, then looked up at the newcomer.
Feeling the young Daoist's undisguised aura, Shi Lan narrowed her eyes.
A Xiantian expert...
And his cultivation was at least above the eighth layer of the Xiantian Realm.
Shi Lan hadn't expected anyone with this level of cultivation to exist in a world so starved of spiritual energy.
