Malice

The golden ape's attack missed, but it did not pursue Shi Lan. Instead, it spread its huge hands again and, with a flash of speed, seized the hind legs of two dragon horses.

"Neigh—"

The two dragon horses let out long cries as they were lifted upside down, powerless to resist. The Demon-Suppression soldiers riding them dared not hesitate. They rolled off their mounts, sprang back, and retreated into the ranks.

"Roar—"

The golden ape roared, swung its arms in a wide circle, and hurled the two dragon horses away!

Whoosh—

The air trembled. Carrying tremendous, ferocious force, the two dragon horses flew into the ranks like a pair of cannonballs!

Blood sprayed, and severed limbs spun through the air. The army formation was gouged open by two blood-soaked trenches, each nearly a hundred yards long. Hundreds of Demon-Suppression soldiers were killed or maimed, and screams rose in every direction.

"Bastard!"

Shi Lan clenched her teeth. As she recalled Golden Rainbow, she dropped sharply toward the golden ape, turning the Thunderclap Bow around in her hand and drawing its string sideways.

Twanging—Bang!

The bowstring snapped back in an instant, its tremendous force striking the side of the golden ape's face. Like a long whip, it sent the beast flying more than a hundred yards.

After landing, the golden ape shook its head and rose again. Aside from a red mark on its cheek, it had not been hurt.

Shi Lan's heart tightened. The golden ape possessed unmatched, ferocious strength, and its physical toughness was terrifying. Even an ordinary Heavenly Dipper martial artist might not be able to defeat it.

Several nearby company commanders saw the golden ape's fearsome might. They began adjusting the army formation to keep their soldiers from dying in vain, while also calling for reinforcements.
