Bai once lived for more than seventy years in place of a deceased friend. Afterward, he traveled through the heavens and myriad realms before arriving in the current world by chance. His age, parents, and realm could not be determined by Song Shuhang's appraisal technique. 1590

His memories of his homeland are indistinct. Bai attributes this either to the passage of time or to aftereffects from a secret technique he used in his youth. 2036
