Guo Yujie attended university with Lin Qi, Skinny, and Fatty. Her extraordinary natural strength made her widely known on campus; when a Taekwondo-club president used a self-defense lesson as an excuse to harass her, she elbowed him hard enough to make him vomit. 200

After graduation, she entered government work. Her direct manner and repeated rejection of blind dates arranged by older coworkers made her previous workplace uncomfortable, before she joined the demolition-office team with Lin Qi and their former classmates. 1110

She was quickly drawn into the team’s investigation of Qingye Paranormal Agency. Guo Yujie becomes involved in the search for Qingye Paranormal Agency after Zheng Xiaorui’s death and Grandpa Wang’s unresolved search for his missing wife. She sincerely helps arrange a wider search for Auntie Wang through the old leader’s connections. 26 27

She later assists Lin Qi in investigating Grandma Wang’s disappearance. Though she sees enough to suspect supernatural involvement, she initially treats Lin Qi’s ghost sighting as a lingering reaction to the cursed kimono incident. 54

Subway Ghost Incident

While shopping with Chen Xiaoqiu and Xue Jingyue, Guo Yujie pursued an attacker through a mall and into the subway. She boarded a train alone after spotting him, ignored attempts to contact her, and continued searching even after losing his trail. 577 578 579

She ultimately found the ghostly killer and attempted to save his victim. Her punch could not affect the ghost, but she alerted nearby passengers and helped bring the situation to public attention before the ghost dissipated. 583

Guo Yujie survived an attack by the victim’s newly formed ghost, then faced sharp criticism from Chen Xiaoqiu for acting alone. She acknowledged her mistake and agreed to seek help rather than charge ahead in future incidents. 584 585

Ghosts Seeking Help

Ghosts increasingly appear around Guo Yujie without her immediately recognizing them as dead. Zhang Xiaojia entered her room to ask for help warning her friends about Zhu Mei, then faded away after Guo Yujie made the call. 896
