Li Bufan left Tianxiang Tower No. 4 in Area D. After all that trouble, it was already night.
The night wind rushed toward him, carrying the lingering dampness after the spiritual rain and a faint floral fragrance.
He did not look back. Without even pausing for a moment, he continued onward along Netherpass Street.
The lights and clamor behind him were cast away inch by inch, while the street ahead wound onward through the night, seemingly without end.
He silently activated the Windfire Wandering Step, keeping his body moving at an extremely swift rhythm while carefully weaving around the pedestrians on the street.
Netherpass Street teemed with people. The liveliness of the Spiritual Rain Festival had not faded with the coming of night. Men and women, old and young, cultivators and mortals alike mingled together. Some strolled with flower lanterns in hand, some rode exotic beasts ostentatiously through the streets, and others stood in small groups by the roadside, chatting and laughing merrily.
Li Bufan moved among them, as nimble as a fish swimming through water.
Even so, he could not pick up much speed. Netherpass Street was simply too long, and the farther he went, the more flourishing the sights on either side became.
Tianxiang Towers stood one after another throughout Area D, each with rows of lanterns hanging before its doors, illuminating the street as brightly as day.
As Li Bufan hurried past, he caught glimpses from the corner of his eye: wine cups clinking amid feasts, music from strings and flutes drifting through the air, scenes of extraordinary revelry everywhere.
After walking for roughly half an hour, he finally saw the plaque of Tianxiang Tower No. 1 in Area D. This meant he had crossed the entirety of Area D.
Yet the street ahead still stretched onward
