Cosmology and Geography
- The Primordial Wilderness is only one corner of the original chaos: Pangu opened heaven and earth but failed at the final step of proving the Great Dao. 1 36
- A world barrier, also called the Honghuang Membrane, separates it from the violent true chaos beyond and shields it from Chaos Turbulence. 4 201
- The Inner Chaos surrounds and protects the world; Purple Cloud Palace and later Saint Daoist arenas are situated there. The Outer Chaos is more disordered and dangerous. 201
- The Honghuang Continent is encircled by the East, South, West, and North Seas; the continent itself is vastly larger than the combined seas. 4
- Its spiritual-vein system is anchored by five Ancestral Veins: East Kunlun, the southern Undying Volcano, Mount Sumeru in the west, Changbai Mountain in the north, and the remnant of Mount Buzhou at the center. 599
History
Formation and Early Calamities
Pangu's Heaven-Opening Tribulation ended with his fall, but his body transformed into the Primordial Wilderness. Unlike the silent chaos, the new world became fertile ground for Innate races to multiply and cultivate. 1
The northern continent became the principal battlefield of the Fierce Beast Cataclysm. Fierce Beast deaths saturated the land and its spiritual veins with corrosive Sha Qi, leaving the region a desolate polar wasteland. 1 4
Luo Hou's self-destruction later crippled the western lands and prevented the Earth Path from fully manifesting, leaving the West's spiritual veins incomplete for much of the world's history. 247
Northern Revival
Bei Ming first purified Changbai Mountain's ancestral vein, gaining recognition from heaven and earth and gradually drawing the Northern Continent's Luck to himself. 4 19
He then gathered the northern Fierce Beast remains into the Primordial Gourd, using the Twelve Grade Pure World White Lotus and Qiankun Cauldron to contain their Sha Qi. This completed the second step of northern restoration and earned merit for Bei Ming and both treasures. 72
The final cleansing used the Water Law, Xuan Yuan Controlling Water Flag, Three Lights Divine Water, Pure World White Lotus, and Heavenly Lake water to purge the Northern Spiritual Veins. The northern border was restored, its Sha Qi dispersed, and its spiritual energy renewed. 81
Witch–Demon Conflict and Saint Era
The conflict between the Wu Clan and Demon Race threatened the world with the clash of the Twelve Divine Fiends Great Array and Zhou Tian Star Array. Bei Ming intervened, collapsing both formations without severe backlash and freezing the high-ranking combatants. 213
The Saint Era places the Primordial Wilderness at the center of Saintly struggles: Saints act as chess players, while the world and its beings are treated as the board and pieces. 188
After Saint warfare damaged the world, Hongjun restricted Saints from directly entering the Primordial Wilderness to prevent further destruction, though their avatars and Three Corpses could still influence its affairs. 188 247
Demon Calamity and Western Revival
During the Demon Calamity, forces from the Devil Realm and chaos threatened the Primordial Wilderness itself. Cultivators from many races joined the defense, and their contributions were later rewarded with merit. 586 600
Bei Ming used the Earth Book, Qiankun Cauldron, refined Chaos God origin, and purified Blood Sea water to rebuild the western spiritual veins. The renewed western veins reconnected with the other four Ancestral Veins, restoring the world's complete spiritual-vein network. 599
Following the restoration, the Heavenly Dao distributed merit and erased portions of the karmic burdens carried by the races that had reinforced the West. 600
Spiritual Laws and Worldly Principles
- Luck — Regions, races, sects, and individual cultivators possess Luck. The world's Luck can support cultivation, but its blessings apply only within the Primordial Wilderness and are severed upon entering true chaos. 3 213
- Merit — Major acts that repair or protect the world, such as reviving the North and West, are rewarded by the Heavenly Dao with merit. Merit can aid cultivation, refinement, and the resolution of karmic burdens. 4 72 599 600
- Spiritual veins — Spiritual veins sustain the world's spiritual energy and the prosperity of its living beings. Sha Qi can corrode them, damage Dao foundations, and render entire regions unfit for cultivation. 4
- Heaven, Earth, and Man Paths — The three paths are interdependent. The incompleteness of the Earth Path, caused by the West's ruin, destabilized the greater balance until the West was restored. 247 599
