Background and Government

Heaven Dou was one of the continent’s major empires, with Heaven Dou City as its vast and prosperous capital. The empire’s territory included numerous provinces, kingdoms, duchies, and major fortified cities, including Treasure Sword City and Jialing Pass. Its population possessed comparatively strong educational and cultural foundations, with widespread literacy, local academies, and inherited schools of learning 39 167 361.

The empire was nominally ruled by Emperor Xue Ye and the imperial family. As Xue Ye’s health deteriorated after being poisoned, the Crown Prince effectively handled both major and minor court affairs, placing the day-to-day authority of the empire in the prince’s hands 145.

Unknown to most of the court, the Crown Prince “Xue Qinghe” had been replaced by Qian Renxue more than a decade earlier as part of Spirit Hall’s plan to take the country from within 49. Princess Xueke eventually learned that Qian Renxue had occupied the position since before Xueke’s birth 50.

Military

The Heaven Dou Empire possessed hundreds of thousands of troops and several battle formations said to be capable of rivaling Title Douluo-level combat power. However, it lacked its own Title Douluo-level powerhouses, leaving it vulnerable to Spirit Hall’s elite Soul Masters and modern Soul Tool weaponry 67.

Its traditional fortifications proved unable to withstand coordinated artillery bombardment:

• Treasure Sword City fell in less than half an hour after its walls were breached by Soul Tool Cannons 345 346.
• Jialing Pass, despite its immense stone-and-iron defenses, was reduced by repeated cannon fire over two days 347 348.
• Reinforcements sent from Heaven Dou City to Jialing Pass were secretly loyal to Qian Renxue; Snake Lance Douluo and Pufferfish Douluo assassinated General Qin and massacred the defenders from within 348 349.

Heaven Dou Royal Academy

Heaven Dou Royal Academy stood outside the capital, occupying an entire valley and mountainside platforms overlooking the city. Its core area stretched roughly ten li in every direction, while its outer training grounds extended into the mountains. The academy was arranged in tiers, from a ceremonial square at the base to teaching facilities midway up the mountain and an Elite Zone at the summit 54.

The academy was backed by the imperial family and primarily served nobles, wealthy merchants’ children, and exceptionally gifted students. Its three Teaching Committee members were Soul Douluo-level Soul Masters 21 41.

Qian Renxue used her authority as Crown Prince to arrange Xu Fan, Zhu Zhuqing, and Ning Rongrong’s direct enrollment and resource allocation, placing them in Dugu Yan’s class 56.

Political Intrigue

Qian Renxue’s Infiltration

Qian Renxue operated publicly as Crown Prince Xue Qinghe while pursuing Spirit Hall’s long-term plan to seize Heaven Dou. She managed the Underground Spirit Arena on behalf of the imperial family and used her position to cultivate influence within the capital 49.

By the time of the final coup, she had already won over many imperial officials and nobles, making the takeover of Heaven Dou City largely a matter of timing 334.

The Vast Sea Cosmic Shroud

The Heaven Dou Imperial Family kept the Vast Sea Cosmic Shroud in its treasure trove without understanding its true purpose. The artifact was actually the Heart of the Sea God, a key connected to the Sea God’s inheritance and trials 56.

As acting authority over the empire, Qian Renxue could enter the heavily guarded imperial treasury under the pretext of inspecting or distributing treasures 145.

Blue Lightning Tyrant Clan Compensation

After Yu Tianheng insulted Princess Xueke, the empire joined Spirit Hall and the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect in pressuring the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan for compensation. Heaven Dou demanded the same payment as the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect:

• One Ten Thousand Year Soul Bone
• 500,000 Gold Soul Coins
• 500 portions of resources
• A kneeling apology from Yu Tianheng

The combined demands of the three parties reached four Ten Thousand Year Soul Bones, two million Gold Soul Coins, and two thousand portions of resources 74 76.

Fall of the Empire

Coup in Heaven Dou City

Spirit Hall began its invasion with a coordinated plan: Qian Renxue would secure Heaven Dou City from within while Soul Engineer Legions captured the empire’s western territories and converged on Jialing Pass 342.

Qian Renxue took control of the capital, replaced its military leadership, and secured the army’s allegiance through the Tiger Tally and Imperial Jade Seal 346. She then revealed her identity as a woman from Spirit Hall before the imperial court, executed selected officials in Qinzheng Hall, and ruled through fear and decisive force 344.

Spirit Hall Invasion

Spirit Hall’s forces used Soul Tool Cannons to overwhelm the empire’s conventional defenses. Three armies advanced through western Heaven Dou, taking cities and vassal states with rapid bombardments, while the main force attacked Jialing Pass 346 347.

Following the fall of Jialing Pass and the unification of Spirit Hall’s armies in Xueling Province, the remaining eastern territories collapsed in under seven days. Several cities surrendered before artillery could even be deployed, while Gulei Kingdom’s capital resisted for only one day 350.

From the fall of Treasure Sword City to the last Heaven Dou banner being removed, the empire was conquered in roughly half a month 350.

Aftermath

Spirit Hall annexed all former Heaven Dou territory and renamed itself the Spirit Hall Empire 350. Civil Soul Masters followed the armies to register land and population, take control of treasuries, retain cooperative officials, open granaries, and reassure civilians 349.

The new government reduced taxes by thirty percent, halved corvée labor, revoked noble privileges, and replaced the old system of local rule with directly appointed officials subject to periodic evaluations 349 356.

Much of the former empire’s territory avoided severe physical destruction because cities surrendered quickly. Treasure Sword City, Jialing Pass, and several stubbornly resistant cities suffered the heaviest damage from cannon fire 356.

Legacy

The former Heaven Dou lands became the northern half of the unified Spirit Hall Empire. Their longstanding emphasis on education and literacy contrasted sharply with the former Star Luo territories’ stronger martial culture. Spirit Hall addressed this divide by building schools in the south, encouraging military training in the north, and rotating officials between regions 361 362.

Thirty years later, Qian Renxue inherited the throne from Bibi Dong and was described as governing the unified empire in perfect order 369.
