Background / History

Hanyu entered Private Koudo Ikusei High School with the standard 100,000 personal points. On his first night, he wagered points through club challenges, defeating opponents in Go, Kendo, art, debate, music composition, physics, classical literature, martial arts, and an extreme fitness challenge. Despite losing an archery contest, he finished with 5,000,000 points—a feat later called a school record. 1 41

The school introduced restrictions on large point transfers and club wagers after his sudden accumulation of wealth.
