Flames Engulf the Island

Within the three-colored Light Screen, a faint ripple appeared in one spot.

The cultivators noticed something amiss!

On the island, both the wicked cultivators and the Fragrant Pavilion cultivators turned their gazes toward it.

A figure in plain white robes, her sash fluttering, emerged as a reflection in the Light Screen!

Though it was merely an apparition, it was so lifelike she seemed almost real!

The woman had delicate brows and bright eyes, red lips and pearly teeth. Her gaze swept over the many cultivators, cold and expressionless. An air of noble dignity radiated from her, stirring an irresistible urge to conquer her!

Quite a few cultivators present cried out in surprise, clearly recognizing her.

Cheng Buzheng recognized her as well. She was another deputy pavilion master of the Fragrant Pavilion!

He had come across information about her while gathering intelligence earlier.

Seeing this, Cheng Buzheng noticed out of the corner of his eye that Madam Lin's expression had changed.

A flicker of uncertainty crossed Madam Lin's eyes.

She knew Wu Qingzhao's arrival could not mean anything good. After all, Wu Qingzhao was her greatest rival for the position of pavilion master!

Especially at such a crucial time!

Madam Lin seemed to recall a rumor. Her heart turned cold, but she composed herself and asked tentatively,

"Senior Sister, may I ask what brings you here?"

Wu Qingzhao hovered in midair and glanced coolly at Madam Lin. Her voice was utterly devoid of emotion.

"Junior Sister, surely you already know. Why pretend to ask?"

Seeing this,

Cheng Buzheng realized that although Madam Lin and the woman in white were fellow disciples, Wu Qingzhao didn't seem to have come to help. Instead, he had the feeling that a mantis was stalking a cicada, unaware of the oriole behind.
