Background / History

The Jade Phosphor Serpent is the Dugu Clan's poison-attribute beast martial soul. Its defining trait is Jade Phosphor Snake Poison, and Dugu Bo considers it powerful enough to threaten opponents above the wielder's level. He states that its normal developmental path is Jade Phosphor Serpent → Jade Phosphor Snake King at five rings → Jade Phosphor Serpent Emperor at the Titled Douluo stage 2.

Its strength carries a fatal cost: each Martial Soul Possession leaves Jade Phosphor Snake Poison in the wielder's body. The accumulated poison eventually enters the bone marrow, making it incurable; Dugu Yan's father died from this backlash 3 51.

Dugu Yang instead builds his rings around poison-attribute spirit beasts, treating Spirit Rings as tools to improve and evolve a martial soul rather than merely sources of individual skills 1 52. After fusing with the Emerald Poison Dragon's bloodline and Origin power, he activates the Jade Phosphor Serpent's dormant Giant Dragon bloodline and evolves it into the Jade Flood Dragon 23 24.

The Jade Flood Dragon's superior poison resistance completely protects Dugu Yang from the Jade Phosphor Snake Poison backlash. Its evolution also provides a more powerful physical body than the original serpent form 22 24.

Appearance

During Dugu Yang's original Jade Phosphor Serpent Possession, emerald-green scales appear across his cheeks, chest, and ribs. Unlike Dugu Yan, he does not develop a snake tail; his manifestation instead produces a greater amount of visible scaling 5 8.

After evolving into the Jade Flood Dragon, his right arm can undergo Dragon Transformation, becoming covered in jade-colored scales and ending in sharp dragon claws 24 25.
