Hu Jie lay on the ground, staring at the Blood-Colored Mad Blade pressed against his neck, at the dark golden light flowing along its edge, and feeling the searing pain from the wound on his shoulder. His lips trembled, and the expression on his face shifted repeatedly between fury and fear.
A muffled syllable came from his throat, as if he wanted to say something, but in the end, nothing came out.
Mu Ye waited three seconds.
Then he shook his head, raised his foot, and stomped on Hu Jie's stomach.
Golden Belly's light shield shattered beneath that kick. Hu Jie spat out a mouthful of blood mixed with fragments of internal organs.
Mu Ye put away the Blood-Colored Mad Blade. Little Red reverted from blade form to mecha form and landed behind him. He turned and walked toward the ruins of the Tang Sect main hall.
"Today is only the beginning."
His voice echoed across the plaza, through the ruins, and in the ears of every Tang Sect disciple.
"Tomorrow, I'll come again."
"The day after tomorrow, I'll come too."
"Until the Tang Sect returns, bit by bit, the dignity it stole from my Body Sect!"
His figure vanished into the smoke and dust of the ruins.
Little Red's eyes glowed blood-red as it followed behind him, its six-meter-tall mecha casting a long shadow across the ground.
Amid the dust, only Hu Jie remained, lying in the deep pit on his back and staring at the sky above. The wound on his shoulder was still bleeding, and the footprint on his stomach still throbbed faintly, but more painful than either was his pride—his pride, crushed beneath Mu Ye's foot.
He clenched his fists, his nails digging into his flesh as blood seeped through his fingers.
But he did not
