Background / History

Martial Souls are awakened during ceremonies held for children who have reached the proper age. At Niuma Village's Awakening House, a Spirit Hall deacon arranges six black stones into a hexagon and uses her Wind Spirit Bird Martial Soul to guide the process. An awakened Martial Soul alone does not ensure a cultivation path: Xihai awakens a whip but has no Soul Power, preventing him from becoming a Soul Master 3 4.

Martial Souls vary widely in form. The Niuma Village ceremony produces Blue Silver Grass, a sickle, a wooden stick, a carrot, a whip, and Jiang Bai's Seven Treasures Glazed Pagoda 4. The Pagoda is renowned as the world's foremost support-type tool Martial Soul and is ordinarily inherited through the direct bloodline of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect 3 5.

Jiang Bai inherits the Pagoda from his father, Ning Fengping, a former Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect disciple. Initially disappointed at receiving a support-type Martial Soul rather than his mother's spear, Jiang Bai accepts Spirit Hall's offer of protection and training after displaying Rank Nine Innate Soul Power 3 4.

His Pagoda proves to be a mutation. By absorbing Spirit Rings from dragon-type soul beasts, it preserves their souls as loyal Martial Beasts rather than producing the standard support skills expected of a Seven Treasures Glazed Pagoda 17 30.

Appearance

Martial Souls have no universal appearance; their forms depend on the bearer. Jiang Bai's manifestation is an exquisitely crafted, crystal-clear glazed pagoda that floats above his palm 4.

• The initial Seven Treasures Glazed Pagoda has seven tiers and emits multicolored glazed light 17.
• Each occupied tier takes on the elemental radiance of its bound soul beast: crimson, earthy yellow, cyan, and ice blue for the Fire, Earth, Wind, and Ice Dragons 48.
• After its evolution, the Nine Treasures Glazed Pagoda bears nine tiers and flows with nine-colored radiance 57.

Conventional Seven Treasures Support Skills

The ordinary Seven Treasures Glazed Pagoda possesses fixed amplification skills rather than skills determined by a specific soul beast.

• Its first three standard skills are Strength, Speed, and Soul Power enhancement 2.
• Later abilities are described as defense, attack, attribute enhancement, and Martial Soul Avatar 13.
• Jiang Bai's mutated Pagoda does not follow this conventional pattern after obtaining its first ring 17.

Martial Beast Preservation

Each absorbed Spirit Ring creates a separate internal space for its corresponding soul beast.

• The soul beast retains its intelligence, memories, abilities, and soul origin after its body dies 17.
• The beast may continue cultivating within the Pagoda, increasing the age and power of its corresponding Spirit Ring 17 25.
• Bound beasts are marked to recognize Jiang Bai as their master and cannot directly or indirectly harm him 17.

Possession
