History
Duncan initially identified Earth as the target of Umbrella Corporation's planned T-Virus release, which was intended to infect humanity within a year. He began gathering personnel and supplies to oppose the plan. 6
Umbrella subsequently presented its wider mission as opening “new horizons” for humanity and leading humanity into the universe. Its development accelerated through global industrial expansion, advanced power generation, and cross-world resource acquisition. 41 60
By 2007, Umbrella was constructing factories worldwide, introducing Arc Reactor power, developing holographic virtual-reality hardware, and building underground Helicarrier shipyards in Delta County, Colorado. 60
Earth’s first large-scale lunar mission sent five hundred engineers to the Moon. The expedition established the foundation for lunar exploration, and the lunar base and space station were later completed. 163 224
As stable portals and later dimensional-lasso technology connected multiple worlds, Earth became the principal transit point for interdimensional resources, personnel, research, and diplomacy. 161 368 371
Development Timeline
| Milestone | Chapter | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Global industrial expansion | 60 | Umbrella established factories worldwide, deployed Arc Reactor power, and constructed underground Helicarrier shipyards in Delta County, Colorado. |
| Pandora resource exchange | 81 | Pandora’s superconducting ore was delivered to Stark Industries alongside Valkyrie Space Shuttle blueprints. |
| Stable portal disclosure | 161 | Duncan privately informed major-nation ambassadors of stable gateways to the Marvel and Avatar worlds. |
| First lunar expedition | 163 | Five hundred lunar engineers departed for the Moon aboard Umbrella spacecraft. |
| Lunar base and space station | 224 | Both facilities were completed, opening a new stage of space exploration. |
| Industrial and environmental transition | 224 | Earth abandoned 70% of thermal power plants, phased out oil-powered cars, and expanded industrial automation and remote operation. |
| Dimensional-lasso network | 368 | The dimensional lasso enabled large-scale transport between worlds without relying solely on fixed portals. |
| Interdimensional diplomacy | 371 | A delegation from another Earth toured the Arctic Base, Raccoon City, and other Umbrella facilities to verify the Interdimensional United Organization’s claims. |
Major Facilities
| Location | Function | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Delta Research Base, Colorado | Helicarrier construction and deployment | Underground shipyards were built for Helicarriers; the first completed vessel departed from the base for another world. 60 66 |
| Aerospace Launch Center | Lunar-mission staging site | Hosted the lunar launch ceremony and the departure of five hundred engineers. 161 163 |
| Moon Base / Space Station | Extraterrestrial research and expansion | Completed during Umbrella’s period of stable development. 224 |
| Arctic Base | Interdimensional diplomatic and technological showcase | Hosted a visiting diplomatic delegation and displayed advanced technology from multiple worlds. 371 |
| Raccoon City | Umbrella-administered urban center | Included among the locations shown to interdimensional diplomats. 371 |
Society and Industry
- Industrial robots progressively replaced factory labor, while remote operation allowed some people to work from home. 224
- The spread of artificial intelligence, automation, and space development created a major demand for technical talent and skilled workers. 162 224
- Space resources and off-world development reduced pressure to exploit Earth’s own limited resources. 162
- Cross-world travel also created biological risks: a germ crisis spread across multiple worlds, killing animals and forcing large-scale livestock and poultry culls. 368
Interdimensional Connections
- Marvel Earth — One of the two stable worlds publicly disclosed to major-nation ambassadors; Umbrella supplied support during its war against Thanos’s forces. 161 160
- Pandora — A resource and production world linked to Earth through Umbrella’s development projects; superconducting ore was exported to Earth. 81 166
- Zombie World — Received Helicarriers, soldiers, supplies, and scientific personnel for development and containment operations. 188
- Atlas World — Integrated operational systems and exchange personnel with the Umbrella Group after cooperation with Giant God Corporation. 256
- Transformers World — Received technical, financial, and military assistance as part of preparations against the Cybertronian threat. 267 268
- Eerie World — Connected through later interdimensional exploration and dimensional-lasso transport, with Earth-based organizations supporting its research and development. 368 371
