Background / History

The Extreme Research Institute established measurable absorption limits by testing physical fitness, Soul Power capacity, cultivation speed, and compatibility with Spirit Rings. Its researchers raised Soul Beasts in advance so their ages could be accurately determined before absorption. 4 7

In its first large-scale trial, the institute allowed one hundred prepared students to absorb Thousand-Year Spirit Rings according to individually calculated limits. The successful absorptions demonstrated that higher-age rings could improve cultivation speed, strengthen Spirit Skills, and potentially evolve compatible Martial Souls. 6 7

Ning Qinghe later publicized his own 3,800-year first ring and 15,000+ year second ring to challenge the continent's accepted absorption limits. A Spirit Ring contains Soul Power from its originating Soul Beast. During successful absorption, that power is converted into the spirit master's own strength.
