Background & History

Kamuro enters Class A as Shikime Natsu's desk mate. Her first response to his attempt at conversation is to state her name and tell him not to bother her, establishing her guarded and distant manner 2.

Shortly after enrollment, Natsu confronts her outside a convenience store over her intention to steal beer. Rather than reporting her, he demands that she work for him; Masumi accepts the arrangement but firmly refuses to call herself his friend 5. Despite this, she repeatedly accompanies him, accepts requests to watch Sakayanagi Arisu, and gradually becomes someone Natsu relies upon for reconnaissance 6 13 32.

Her rivalry with Sakayanagi becomes a major source of motivation. Though she initially doubts she can challenge a student of Sakayanagi's academic standing, she commits herself to Natsu's tutoring and eventually defeats Sakayanagi in their exam duel 87 88 204.
