History
Class 1-B began the school year with Dokuho Kouya, Honami Ichinose, Ryuji Kanzaki, Sayo Ando, and other students. Unlike the uninformed Class D, Dokuho disclosed the school's point system and the first-month aptitude assessment almost immediately, arguing that this prevented Class 1-B from beginning roughly 200 points behind its strongest competitor. 3 11
The class finished its first assessment with 980 points, surpassing the original Class A's 940. This result elevated Class 1-B into the Class A position, while the former Class A became Class B. 32
The later Class B was marked by conflict between Kohei Katsuragi's side and the Sakayanagi faction. Katsuragi maintained that the class could reclaim Class A, but Morishige openly rejected his authority as a Sakayanagi faction member. 59
During the Uninhabited Island Exam, Katsuragi's Class B occupied numerous locations simultaneously and calculated a potential total of 544 points. Its leader was ultimately exposed, causing its temporary location points to be voided; the official result was only 120 points. 79 80 82
Sakayanagi's faction later undermined Katsuragi's position during the Sports Festival, after which Sakayanagi became Class B's sole leader. 105 She subsequently served as the class's commander in the Selection Exam and led it to a 4–3 win over Class C. 121 122
Organization and Leadership
Initial Class 1-B
- Dokuho Kouya — Assigned to Class 1-B at enrollment; revealed the school's hidden rules and helped secure the class's first-month rise to Class A. 2 11 32
- Honami Ichinose — A charismatic classmate noted for quickly connecting with unfamiliar students; she frequently acted as a mediator between Dokuho and Kanzaki. 3 11
- Ryuji Kanzaki — An ambitious student who sought to improve the class's standing and later supported Dokuho's strategies. 11 93
- Sayo Ando — Dokuho's seatmate and an early acquaintance; she voiced concern over his more dangerous plans. 3 106
- Mako Amikura — A classmate interested in Dokuho's plan to gather 20 million private points. 14
Later Class B
- Kohei Katsuragi — Led the class during the Uninhabited Island Exam and pursued an aggressive base-occupation strategy. 79 80
- Arisu Sakayanagi — Head of the Sakayanagi faction; her faction betrayed Katsuragi's efforts, and she later became Class B's sole leader and Selection Exam commander. 80 105 121
- Yahiko Totsuka — Katsuragi's follower and the apparent target of Class B's expulsion scheme during the Class Vote arc. 110
- Morishige — A Sakayanagi faction member who openly refused Katsuragi's orders. 59
Class Culture and Factions
- The initial Class 1-B was portrayed as highly cohesive, with Ichinose's social influence helping unite students who were initially strangers. 3
- Dokuho deliberately maintained an independent “lone wolf” position within the otherwise cooperative class: friendly in daily life, but unwilling to commit his resources to collective goals during key exams. 13 14
- The later Class B fractured into Katsuragi and Sakayanagi factions. The internal split directly contributed to its Uninhabited Island Exam failure when a traitor revealed the class leader's identity to Class C. 80 82
- Sakayanagi's eventual consolidation of leadership ended the factional backstabbing described during Katsuragi's tenure. 105
Major Exam Involvement
Uninhabited Island Exam
- Katsuragi's group occupied 16 locations while using curtains and guarded check-in points to conceal the leader's identity. 79 80
- Class C learned Class B's leader through a traitor and invalidated its location points by guessing correctly. 80 82
- Class B also agreed to pay Class C 800,000 private points monthly in exchange for cooperation, creating a substantial ongoing cost despite the poor exam result. 80 82
Paper Shuffle Exam
- Class A, led strategically by Dokuho, chose to challenge Class B rather than attack the weaker Class C. 106
- Despite audience expectations that Sakayanagi's Class B would win, Dokuho's Class A prevailed. 108
