The senior nodded and began explaining the precautions. "All right. Nazuna, you already know this, but I still have to repeat the rules according to procedure. The moment they stepped through the entrance, the lighting immediately dimmed.
The gymnasium, once spacious and bright, had now been divided into narrow passageways by black curtains and fake walls.
The overhead lights had been replaced with several dim red bulbs, one appearing every few meters. Their flickering glow created an eerie atmosphere.
A faint haze permeated the air, smelling like sandalwood mixed with something else.
"Artificial fog?" Shimizu Akira asked.
"Mm, the kind used on stage. It's harmless," Asahina Nazuna explained. "The scent was added separately to cover up the smell of some props."
Shimizu Akira swept his gaze around the area.
The walls on both sides of the passage were covered in antique-style wallpaper, with certain areas deliberately weathered to resemble an old mansion that had fallen into disrepair.
Fake skeletons and cobwebs had been piled in the corners. The craftsmanship was not especially refined, but beneath the dim lights, they looked convincing enough.
