Background and History

Hoshinomiya graduated from Advanced Nurturing High School, where she had once been in Class D. She and Chabashira Sae knew each other from high school and remained close enough to call each other “Chie-chan” and “Sae-chan,” despite their rivalry 21 89.

Their conflict stems from a high-school special exam. Hoshinomiya blames Chabashira’s decision to prevent a class leader from withdrawing for costing their class its chance to graduate from Class A. Hoshinomiya later returned to the school as a teacher specifically to keep Chabashira from reaching Class A 534 558 603.

Early in her teaching career, Hoshinomiya graded assignments diligently. As her feud with Chabashira continued, she became less engaged with her work, and both teachers’ classes suffered from their competition 36. When Chabashira’s class eventually rose to Class A and Hoshinomiya’s fell to Class D, Hoshinomiya remained determined to reverse their positions 534.

Hoshinomiya later told Ichinose Honami that Chabashira had begun moving past their high-school dispute while she herself had not. After discussing her depression and drinking with Ichinose, she decided to focus on her job and drink less 603 604.

Her grudge against Chabashira can override her professional judgment. She has tried to recruit promising students from Chabashira’s class and later asked Shimizu to hold back in a competition to damage Chabashira’s standing. At the same time, she is attentive to Ichinose Honami and behaves seriously when treating patients 86 429 558.
