One Person Disguises, Two People Lie

As Lisa Turpin's words rang out, the attention of everyone present shifted to the corner of the common room.

Jacob Kent was standing there all by himself.

Scott remained on the stairs, observing him from a position of superiority.

Faced with Turpin's accusation, the expression on Jacob's face changed instantly. His complexion turned deathly pale, and he appeared flustered and terrified.

But Scott could see more; he saw the calm in Jacob's eyes and the lack of any fluctuation in his magic.

Had this kid anticipated the current situation? Or rather, was all of this part of his plan?

It seemed his previous judgment had been slightly off.

Scott narrowed his eyes, scrutinizing the fake expression on Jacob's face.

The kid had likely exposed himself on purpose.

But why on earth would he do that?

Scott waited expectantly, wanting to hear what kind of explanation Jacob would offer.

"Mr. Kent?" Professor Flitwick also looked at Jacob. "Can you explain this? Why would you do such a thing?"

"Miss Turpin asked me to help her, Professor," Jacob said, trembling.

Jacob acted just as he had when Scott first met him, appearing to be nothing more than a timid, cowardly boy.

"No! He volunteered to help me!" Turpin retorted loudly.

Interesting. Scott curled his lips slightly and began to walk slowly down the stairs.

At that moment, Roger walked up to Jacob and asked, "What about you, then? Jacob, if it was Lisa's request, why did you agree to it?"

"I... I thought she was just playing a prank. She said she was Mr. Davis's girlfriend," Jacob said, shrinking back, his voice thick with tears.

Just then, Professor Flitwick's expression shifted again. He seemed to have thought of something, so he asked Jacob, "Mr. Kent has been very close to Travers of Slytherin lately, hasn't he?"

"N-no."

Jacob shook his head rapidly, his face turning even paler, as if he had been severely frightened.

It was obvious to anyone with eyes that he was lying.

And it looked like he was being forced to lie.

By this time, Scott had reached the bottom of the stairs.

He walked over to a window and softly greeted Luna, who was sitting on the sill, swinging her short legs. "Hey, Luna."

There were two isolated students in the first year of Ravenclaw: the boy was Jacob, and the girl was Luna.

Every time Scott saw her, she was almost always alone.

"Hello, Scott," Luna replied in a similarly soft voice. She even raised her hand to wave, looking quite happy.

She seemed to be the only student present who hadn't focused her attention on the incident; Scott noticed she had been intently watching out the window the whole time.

At that moment, Professor Flitwick's voice rang out again. "And you, Miss Turpin. I remember we discussed this matter before the first class this morning."

"No, this has nothing to do with Miss Travers!" Turpin suddenly screamed.

Professor Flitwick didn't comment on her outburst but turned back to Jacob. "What do you have to say for yourself, Mr. Kent?"

"I... I..." Jacob stammered, unable to get any more words out.

Scott watched the scene with interest, then turned his head to ask in a low voice, "What do you think, Luna?"

Luna pursed her lips, widened her eyes as she looked at Jacob Kent and Lisa Turpin, and said in a dreamy voice, "Their brains have been muddled by Wrackspurts. Those invisible creatures can even make them talk nonsense."

Her words could be interpreted as her being able to see that both Jacob Kent and Lisa Turpin were lying.

Sure enough, this girl could see things that ordinary wizards could not. Scott believed this must be some kind of special gift.

On the other side, Professor Flitwick, who likely hadn't anticipated that this matter would involve Jasmine Travers, hesitated for a few seconds before making a new decision.

"Mr. Davis, Mr. Kent, and Miss Turpin," he addressed the three students, "follow me to my office."

From Professor Flitwick's attitude, Scott realized one thing: the professors seemed to take Jasmine Travers's formation of a small clique more seriously than he had imagined.

After all, in a sense, that Miss Travers had an advantage over Voldemort—unlike the Death Eaters, whose members were mostly from Slytherin, Travers's clique spanned three houses, excluding only Gryffindor.

Of course, this was just Scott's conjecture.

Professor Flitwick looked very stern at this moment. None of the other students dared to voice any objections.

After the group left, the Ravenclaw students gathered in the common room dispersed calmly.

This was the norm for Ravenclaw House.

Most Ravenclaws didn't have much curiosity about things outside of knowledge. They would certainly stop to watch when there was a commotion, but they would never get too invested.

Of course, with the exception of Eddie.

After Professor Flitwick and the others left, Eddie and Milton walked down the stairs.

"Scott!" Eddie's eyes were filled with a thirst for gossip. "How did this incident get involved with the 'Poison Doll' again? What is actually going on? Do you know?"

Scott gave him a meaningful smile. "You should uncover the truth yourself, Eddie. That's where the fun lies, isn't it?"

"Oh! I'll get to the bottom of this!" Eddie struck a pose as if accepting a challenge.

"Neither Kent nor Turpin seemed to be telling the truth; they are hiding something," Milton said softly, "but their expressions and demeanor betrayed them."

Scott thought to himself that while Lisa Turpin's expressions were indeed natural, the same could not necessarily be said for Jacob Kent.

Scott had originally assumed that Jacob Kent would completely conceal his role in this incident, but he hadn't expected him to go with the flow and expose himself instead.

However, by this point, Scott had already roughly guessed his intentions.

"Their brains have been muddled by Wrackspurts," Luna suddenly said to Eddie on her own initiative. "These invisible creatures are always buzzing around, causing people trouble."

"Excuse me?" Eddie looked at Luna blankly, having no idea what she was talking about.

"Be careful, protect your brain and don't let the Wrackspurts get in; they usually crawl in through your ears. Goodbye." Luna gave one more earnest warning, hopped off the windowsill, and skipped away.

"What is she talking about?" Eddie looked at Scott in confusion.

"Perhaps it's a magical creature that most people haven't discovered yet?" Milton, however, was pondering Luna's words, seemingly very inclined to believe her.

Scott said to them, "I think Luna can see something special, which you can interpret as a wizard's emotions. Wrackspurts are just a whimsical way of putting it."

"Not real bugs? Why did she have to say it so seriously!" Eddie complained.

Scott smiled, "Because she herself believes in it wholeheartedly."
