Background / History

Sett receives the four techniques as information appearing directly in his consciousness while he is falling asleep. It takes him two hours to understand the gift. He recognizes its rarity: Innate Secret Techniques are normally awarded to very few creatures, most of them unique special lifeforms 2.

The four abilities are bestowed together, but access is gated by cultivation realm. Consequently, later references to Sett possessing two or three techniques describe the portion he can use, rather than the full set initially revealed to him 2 29 58 83.

The reason for Sett's bestowal remains unexplained. Zhenyuan Venerable recognizes the techniques as capable of communicating with the universe's origin; even Giant Axe Founder cannot explain why Sett, who is not a special lifeform, received such a gift 22 181.

Abilities & Skills

Pummel

• Core effect: Increases movement speed toward enemies and empowers heavy punches, with a chance to instill fear 2.
• Scaling: Damage increases with the user's force-application technique 2.
• Force multiplication: Doubles Sett's force output. Combined with the first level of Heavenly God Fist, his punches reach 2.8 times his base power rather than 1.4 times 22 101.
• Transformed application: Can be released through the antlers of Sett's divine-deer form rather than only through his fists 176.

Haymaker

• Core effect: Grants Pit Grit, increasing attack power as the user becomes more injured, and enables a powerful forward punch that deals additional damage 2.
• Scaling: Higher life genes strengthen the Pit Grit effect 2.
• Law augmentation: Sett combines it with the Law of Metal to produce a massive, radiant golden fist 48.
• Demonstrated power: Against Qi Yingzong, the fist becomes solid and tangible, exceeds 100 meters in length, and carries several times the pressure of Sett's Golden Sun Sword Technique 101.

Facebreaker

• Core effect: Pulls enemies from both sides toward the user and damages them. Multiple captured targets are smashed into one another 2.
• Scaling: Greater spatial comprehension expands its effective range 2.
• Pursuit: Gives Sett a way to retrieve fleeing or displaced enemies and force ranged opponents into close combat 58 78 126.
• Manifestation: Appears as a faint, massive claw reaching through the void to drag the Heavenly Bridge Gatekeeper back to Sett 78.
• Disruption: Its use against Mou Hao leaves the target dizzy and apparently unable to release genetic energy or spiritual force before Sett's finishing punch 126.

The Show Stopper

• Core effect: Seizes an enemy, carries them forward in a charge, knocks aside enemies along the route, and slams the captured target into the ground 2.
• Area damage: The landing generates a damaging shockwave 2.
• Scaling: Greater comprehension of the Law of Metal widens the shockwave's range 2.
• Demonstrated use: Supplies the finishing attack in Sett's victory over the fifth-level Heavenly Bridge Gatekeeper 86.

Beast God Transformation Fusion

• Integration: Sett combines Pummel with Beast God Transformation and his comprehension of Metal, Space, and Time 175.
• Manifestation: A divine deer appears within the golden fist; the attack shakes space and slows time in the affected region 175.
• Additional enhancement: Blood River Power provides a threefold boost to the technique's might during the fifteenth-level challenge 175.
• Finishing form: In full divine-deer form, Sett channels Pummel through his antlers to tear apart the Gatekeeper 176.

Mechanics & Limitations

• Growth through use: Frequent activation raises proficiency and enhances the user's strength and life genes 2.
• Strength-dependent development: The techniques improve as the user grows stronger; law comprehension can unlock additional forms 2.
• Reuse restriction: The same technique cannot be used repeatedly within a short period. Sett switches from Haymaker to Pummel when defending against Qi Yingzong's sword qi 101.
• Usage is not comprehension: During the early Beast God Inheritance, Sett can activate all four abilities without understanding their underlying principles 103.
• Not a complete movement toolkit: Despite Pummel's approach-speed boost, Sett considers all four abilities combat-oriented and seeks a dedicated movement technique for pursuit and escape 56.
• Recognition risk: Before Sett enters the Outer Battlefield, Giant Axe Founder advises him not to reveal his Innate Secret Technique unless necessary and to develop another attack method 186.

Story Role / Major Uses

• Zhenyuan Venerable's interest: Recognizing Sett's universe-bestowed ability prompts the Venerable to offer him discipleship despite his Apprentice-level cultivation 22.
• First Heavenly Bridge level: Sett uses Facebreaker to retrieve the airborne Gatekeeper, then destroys him with Haymaker 78.
• Mirrored techniques: The second-level Gatekeeper uses Sett's own Haymaker, augmented with spatial laws and the Giant Axe Chaos Stele's principles. Fighting this counterpart helps Sett improve his understanding of his abilities 79 81.
• Qi Yingzong battle: Sett uses his Innate Secret Techniques, including Facebreaker and The Show Stopper, to defeat a Domain Lord opponent while still at Universe Level 101.
• Fifteenth-level record: Pummel's fusion with Beast God Transformation enables Sett to clear the fifteenth Heavenly Bridge level at Domain Lord Level 175 176.
• Foundation for original techniques: Sett later borrows elements of his Innate Secret Technique when developing the warhammer move Soul Severance. Giant Axe Founder explicitly recognizes that borrowed essence during his appraisal 208.
