Background / History
During the Mythological Era, the Emperor established the Ancient Heavenly Court and sought to sacrifice the human realm in order to perfect himself. His supposed death became accepted history after Undying Heavenly Emperor struck with the Immortal Bell and multiple Heavenly Venerables joined the attack. 257
According to Wang Xuan, the Emperor’s death was a deception. The Emperor used a false death to remove himself from the board while continuing to plan the refinement of the human realm; the Heavenly Venerables opposing him were only chess pieces within the competing schemes of the Emperor and Undying Heavenly Emperor. 257
His survival is later revealed to be more than mere longevity: he has remained hidden while transforming into a Red Dust Immortal. 259
