In the Hokage's office, Danzo stood there calmly, the bandages around his head already rewrapped. The eye beneath them had naturally been replaced with Uchiha Shisui's eye—the strongest Genjutsu eye.
Yet to Danzo's disappointment, even after transplanting that eye, he was unable to control the Mangekyou's ocular power, much less use Kotoamatsukami.
Still, the capable Danzo believed that given enough time, he would undoubtedly gain complete control over Kotoamatsukami. When that time came...
Danzo glanced at Hiruzen Sarutobi as he smoked and sneered coldly to himself.
Beside him, Uchiha Itachi knelt on one knee with a mask on, his gaze fixed on the floor, his expression as still as an ancient well.
Watching the brother who had been both mentor and friend die before his eyes had provided enough intense emotional stimulation to successfully awaken his Mangekyou. But that emotion had only surfaced for an instant before he buried it once more.
For the village, for the Uchiha Clan, and for his brother, he buried all his hatred in the deepest recesses of his heart.
"Itachi, why was the Uchiha gathering canceled? And Shisui... where is he?" Hiruzen Sarutobi asked gravely.
"I don't know." Uchiha Itachi answered flatly, without the slightest fluctuation in his tone, though his mind was constantly turning.
With Shisui dead, the clan had lost its strongest fighter. Given his father's nature, he would absolutely not launch another coup in the short term. What Itachi needed to do now was guide the Uchiha Clan onto the right path. Yet as for how exactly he was supposed to do that, he had no answer.
Danzo snorted. "Yesterday, Uchiha Shisui swore he would change Uchiha Fugaku's way of thinking. But from the looks of it, he backed down at the last moment. What a disappointment."
