History

Migration and Territorial Foundation

The empire originated from the Great Sun Prince Mansion, which left the Sun Moon Continent after Emperor Xu Huang grew suspicious of Xu Yu's household. Xu Zhao proposed crossing the Sea of Death to seek a new foundation on the Douluo Continent, and the Kong Family supported the expedition with resources and personnel 3 4.

After capturing Linhai City, the mansion forced the Star Luo Empire to sign the Coastal Treaty and cede half of its territory. The acquired southern provinces became the territorial base of the future Great Ming Empire 30 31 32.

The new rulers stabilized the region through both incentives and violent repression. Commoners who submitted received a three-year tax exemption, while spirit masters joining the Security Squad could receive monthly subsidies and cultivation resources; clans that attacked Great Ming convoys had their strongholds destroyed and participating spirit masters crippled as a warning 32.

Founding

Xu Zhao rejected the proposed state name Sun Moon Empire, reasoning that it would make the settlers appear permanently foreign to the local population. He instead proposed “Great Ming,” explaining that the characters for sun and moon together formed Ming and represented a new state built on conquered land 32 33.

Xu Yu formally proclaimed the Great Ming Empire, established its capital at Linhai City, appointed Kong Yan as Empress, and named Xu Zhao Crown Prince and regent. Xu Zhao's military and political orders were to carry the same authority as Xu Yu's own 33.

Consolidation and Expansion

The Star Crown Sect submitted after concluding it could not resist a force that had already compelled the Star Luo royal family to surrender territory. Its absorption further strengthened Great Ming's position in the former Star Luo south 32.

Xu Zhao recruited Niu Gao's Defense Clan by offering it responsibility for constructing the imperial capital. Niu Gao then requested that the Speed, Strength, and Breaking Clans also be accepted; Xu Zhao agreed to take in all four Single-Attribute Clans 39.

Great Ming later demanded that the remaining Star Luo Empire become the Star Luo Province of the Great Ming Empire. When Dai Tianfeng refused, Xu Zhao used an eighth-level Soul Guidance Cannon bombardment to demonstrate that Great Ming could destroy Star Luo without deploying a Title Douluo 113.

Martial Soul Hall intervened in the subsequent war on Star Luo's side, deploying several Title Douluo and causing heavy damage to Great Ming positions. Xu Zhao's return shifted the conflict decisively; Great Ming captured Star Luo City, and the conquest of the Star Luo Empire was recognized as complete shortly afterward 135 140 144 146.

Later Developments

Xu Zhao designated Soul Suppressing City, built on the ruins of Slaughter City, as Great Ming's northern gateway. The Defense Clan was ordered to lead construction, while soul masters and soul-tool forces would fortify the city 153.

After Xu Zhao's return from the Sun Moon Continent, Linhai City was renamed Jinling City. The capital expanded outward by dozens of li, with its former port becoming an inner district and a new port constructed beyond it 167.

Jinling City

Linhai City was selected as the capital because of Great Ming's naval strength and control over sea routes between the Douluo and Sun Moon Continents 33. Xu Zhao's expansion plan called for:

• Expanding the city by thirty li and incorporating twelve surrounding villages and towns.
• Enlarging the original port tenfold into a deep-water naval base.
• Leveling three northern mountains for the imperial palace and administrative district.
• Using captured nobles and soul masters as forced labor during the initial construction phase 34.

By the time it was renamed Jinling, the city had expanded substantially, with Soul Tool Towers, enlarged walls, a new outer port, and the Black Base Gold Sun Flag displayed throughout the capital 167.

Soul Suppressing City

Soul Suppressing City was planned as a replacement for Slaughter City and as Great Ming's northern defensive gateway. Its intended purpose was to impose order on the former lawless territory while serving as a fortified strategic city 153.

Great Ming's military advantage derives from soul-tool technology brought from the Sun Moon Continent, which Xu Zhao considers far ahead of local Douluo Continent development 2 68.

Great Ming combines overwhelming individual soul-master strength with industrialized soul-tool warfare. Xu Zhao explicitly used the cannon bombardment against Star Luo to demonstrate a “gap in eras” between Great Ming and conventional continental forces 113.

Its rule over conquered areas similarly relies on a dual policy of rewards for submission and severe punishment for resistance 32.
