Horikita Etsuka carried five or six clothing bags and dumped them all onto the bed in one go.
The entire afternoon, the whole afternoon, had been spent picking out clothes, changing into them, and buying them!
It was no exaggeration to say that Kurakara had treated Etsuka like a dress-up doll.
He wasn't exactly tired—his physical constitution was solid, after all—but he did feel a bit mentally drained.
If Etsuka hadn't vehemently stopped her, Kurakara would have paid for all of these clothes.
It wouldn't have been impossible for there to have been five or six more, given that Kurakara had declared, "You need at least a dozen outfits to have enough to change into."
Just kidding, it wasn't as if Etsuka didn't have any points; why would he let Kurakara pay?
Furthermore, if he had let her pay, he would have been obligated to agree to any requests Kurakara made in the future; after all, it's hard to refuse when it comes to social favors.
Ding-dong! At that moment, the notification sound from his Student Terminal rang out.
Etsuka tapped on the Student Terminal to take a look.
Notice to all students and faculty:
[The spy from Class A has completed the Secret Key answer. The exam ends immediately, and summer vacation begins. We wish all students and faculty a happy summer break.]
Ding-dong! Immediately following that was another message.
Notice to all students and faculty:
[The spy from Class D has completed the Secret Key answer. The exam ends immediately, and summer vacation begins. We wish all students and faculty a happy summer break.]
Good grief, both Class A and Class D had finished answering. Was this a three-way struggle now that Class B had withdrawn? However, Class C still hadn't answered.
Etsuka had been having too much fun over the past few days, so he didn't know anything about the intelligence regarding the other classes and couldn't deduce anything either.
Etsuka glanced at the time.
Saturday, 7:00 PM.
"Ryuen still has one day left. What exactly is he trying to do?"
Ryuen definitely knew who the spy in his class was; Etsuka had never doubted that for a second, so it wasn't possible that he couldn't find the spy and thus couldn't submit the Secret Key.
Was he thinking of stalling for time? Or was there something he hadn't finished yet?
Knock, knock, knock.
Just as Etsuka was deep in thought, there was a knock at the door.
"Hm? Who would come to see me this late?" Etsuka opened the door halfway, feeling puzzled. He saw Horikita Suzune still wearing her school uniform, her hands behind her back, her brows furrowed tightly.
Seeing his older sister, Etsuka wore his signature smile:
"Sis? You're still up this late?"
Horikita Suzune looked at Etsuka standing at the door and spoke slowly: "If you want me to keep standing at the door, then we can talk like this."
"My door is always open for my big sister." Fearing that Suzune might take action if she got annoyed, Etsuka quickly stepped aside and gestured for her to enter.
One had to know that this wasn't outside; his sister would strike whenever she felt like it, without any hesitation.
Suzune walked slowly into the room. As soon as she entered, she saw the clothing bags on the bed. She frowned slightly and pointed at them, saying:
"Etsuka, did you buy all these clothes?"
Horikita Etsuka didn't respond immediately. He observed that Suzune was also carrying a clothing bag and immediately understood.
Hm? Did my sister buy me clothes too?
So, Etsuka replied subconsciously:
"These? Sis, you know how it is, I only had those few school uniforms, so I just bought a bit more while I was out. I just picked the styles at random, though."
"By yourself?" The corners of Horikita Suzune's mouth curled into a cold smile.
Just kidding, after living together for over a dozen years, she knew perfectly well whether the other person was lying or telling the truth.
However, she didn't intend to expose this lie, because Etsuka was already an adult, and she wanted to give him his private space.
"Isn't that right, Sis?" Etsuka looked at Suzune's half-smiling expression and knew she didn't believe him: "I really did buy these myself."
It was truly frustrating that no one believed him when he told the truth.
Suzune didn't argue with Etsuka; she simply lifted the bag in her hand and said:
"I bought these for you. Try them on."
Etsuka pursed his lips and slowly took them.
It wasn't as if his sister hadn't bought him clothes before, but nine times out of ten, she would buy them a size too small.
When he couldn't fit into them, his sister would always stand there with her hands on her hips, looking serious as she said: [Etsuka, how are you growing so fast?]
She would firmly refuse to admit that she had bought the wrong size.
Etsuka first took out the top to look at it, spreading it out to compare.
It was a black jacket, looking simple and sophisticated with no extra decorations; even the logo was tucked away on the inner lining.
"Huh? This size feels just about right for me." Etsuka, still skeptical, pulled out the pants from the bottom.
The pants were black cargo trousers, also very minimalist, with the only unique feature being a small silver button at the cuff.
Etsuka held them up against his waistline, then looked up at Suzune with a surprised expression: "Sis? How did you manage to get the size so accurate this time?"
"What do you mean, 'so accurate'?" Suzune said with her arms crossed and a serious face, just as she always did: "It's clearly because Etsuka hasn't grown, isn't it? Besides, I've never bought the wrong size before."
Etsuka's mouth twitched. He hadn't even mentioned the past, yet his sister always loved to bring up old history.
"Alright, Sis, please have a seat." Etsuka moved the items on the bed to the side and patted the spot.
Horikita Suzune did not sit; she remained standing.
"Put it on, let me see." A very soft voice drifted out.
"What?" Etsuka was stunned for a moment.
"I said..." Suzune took a deep breath, looked directly into Etsuka's eyes, and said: "I told you to put it on so I can see."
"Sure!" How could Etsuka not satisfy such a small request? After all, his sister had bought him clothes.
As he spoke, Etsuka slipped on the black jacket. Before he could even zip it up, Suzune leaned in and grabbed the collar to stop him.
She said with a calm expression:
"It's wrong."
"What's wrong?" Etsuka asked, feeling puzzled.
Suzune's slender fingers pointed at the pants Etsuka was wearing: "Change the pants, too."
Horikita Etsuka: "...?"
He felt like crying but had no tears, yet he could only spread his arms helplessly and say: "Sis, there's nowhere to change here."
Then, Etsuka's eyes lit up: "How about I wear them for you to see tomorrow, Sis?"
Suzune crossed her arms, wearing an expression that said "What do you think?", and replied:
"No. If you have to drag changing into clothes until tomorrow, then it would have been better not to buy them at all."
Damn it, damn it!
Etsuka hated hearing that phrase the most. He had realized that whenever his sister was dissatisfied, she would use a specific format to talk to him.
For example:
If you have to... then... it would be better not to...
Etsuka's ears had grown calluses from hearing that line.
Suzune subconsciously glanced at the clothing bag by the bed, then looked away without a trace and pointed toward the bathroom:
"Go to the bathroom and change."
Whatever other girls could provide, Suzune, as his sister, insisted that her younger brother would not be lacking in the same.
Etsuka was out of options and could only follow his sister's instructions.
Fortunately, the bathroom was private and the door was opaque, so there were no issues.
Before long, Etsuka had finished changing into the clothes Suzune bought.
As soon as he opened the door, he found Suzune already sitting on the bed with her long legs in black stockings crossed, and she didn't forget to pat the spot beside her.
"Etsuka, sit..."
[Is she training a dog again?]
