Giant Faraday Cage

A Faraday cage was a protective shielding device invented by the physicist Michael Faraday. Simply put, it was a metal cage. Such a cage was not difficult to make when it was small.

But constructing a Faraday cage of such immense size was actually quite troublesome. The distribution of reinforcing steel had to be planned in advance when pouring the concrete.

A Faraday cage was primarily used to prevent electromagnetic interference, and was generally only needed for experiments involving highly sophisticated precision equipment. Castel's research had not even come close to that stage.

Why had they gone to such lengths to build such an enormous Faraday cage here?

"Lord, you're here!"

Theus had barely entered the testing grounds when the doors behind him shut. Richard, who had come to greet him, was visibly excited as well.

"I never expected it to succeed today. I had only just arrived from the hospital when I received the good news!"

"Don't get too excited. Start from the beginning. There's no need to rush," Theus said with a smile, following Richard toward an enormous metal apparatus ahead. "I recall you saying that you encountered inexplicable interference during electrical experiments, correct?"

"That's right! I used the method you described, cutting magnetic field lines with a coil, but no matter how I controlled the rotational speed and other variables, the current produced kept fluctuating!"

"Those fluctuations severely affected our research..."

"I remember that such fluctuations could be recorded and analyzed?"

"Yes, and the analysis itself wasn't difficult, but..." A trace of fear appeared on Richard's face. "The results made absolutely no sense, yet carried an extreme amount of pollution. One of our researchers merely glanced at it and fell into permanent madness. That was the accident I reported to you last time."

"Maeve. I know her."
