Lina had first infiltrated the island, only to be exposed by Chloe and Isaac working together. After leaving behind a shell, she fled, then went to the Northern Territory and bewitched Count Bazel into opening the White Bone Sanctuary, nearly unleashing a disaster that would destroy the entire continent.

Lina claimed to be the chief of Moth Chasing Flame. That was obviously a lie; Theus did not believe a word of it.

But how had this so-called chief now gained the Empire's recognition?

Had the Candlelight Society vouched for Lina?

"My lord, you summoned me?"

The office door opened once more, and Richard walked in carrying a diary.

Theus had summoned Richard after reading the letter, and had told him to bring Chloe as well.

"Chloe, are you the chief of Moth Chasing Flame?"

I used to be. Richard is the chief now.

"Has Lina ever been the chief?"

Chloe was somewhat bewildered. Richard adjusted his monocle and asked with a frown, "The Lina you mean—is she the one who tried to assassinate you at the Tribunal?"

"Yes, her. What was her position in Moth Chasing Flame?"

I recruited Lina myself. She had only been a little girl from the slums of Rhine. I saw that she had a strong talent for learning and was rather fanatical about knowledge, so after looking into her, I brought her in. Within Moth Chasing Flame, she had practically never held any position. She was merely a newcomer responsible for running errands.

Theus nodded. "Then where are all the members of Moth Chasing Flame now?"

"Most of them are here. Some are in Blood Port. There used to be a few scattered members in the Empire, but they gradually came here to join us."
