Arrival in Rhine

The airship was not flying very high, giving them a panoramic view of the entire Rhine City.

They had all heard of Rhine and knew it was famed across the continent for its industry, a symbol of the Empire's strength and prosperity.

In their imaginations, even if Rhine was not as prosperous as Castel, it should at least have been a smaller Blood Port.

Yet as they looked down upon Rhine now, they saw a completely different sight.

Sharp spires rose everywhere across Rhine City—one of the Candlelight Society's defining features. Unlike the Silent Temple's rounded domes, the Candlelight Society favored pointed rooftops, which from the sky looked like blades thrust into the earth.

These churches were built extraordinarily tall, rising straight upward like slender giants.

Countless suspended arcane corridors crisscrossed the air, layered one above another in a complex web.

If the Silent Temple's cities were vast yet flat, then Rhine existed on another dimension. It no longer sprawled solely across the ground; like a building, the entire city was stacked layer upon layer.

"So this is Rhine? Why does it look nothing like the records described?"

Judging from the city's foundations alone, it did indeed have something of an industrial feel. The entire city was exceptionally clean and orderly. Just as the legends said, priests in long robes walked along the arcane corridors in the sky.

Countless statues and landmarks towered throughout the city, all in a tall, slender style. The tallest were two hooded figures facing each other as though bowing in prayer, their hands jointly holding up a long arcane corridor that ran through the entire city.

The two statues were immensely tall, their bodies extending downward through layer after layer of the city, disappearing into depths below that could no longer be seen.
