Old Vance had complained to others before, but the responses he received were all rather strange.

"Coming to Castel, you were bound to go mad at least once. That's perfectly normal," the security guard beside him replied absentmindedly.

Old Vance glanced at him. He had heard that the man was from the Northern Territory as well. Because of the war, everyone in his family had died, leaving him alone to flee to Blood Port.

He had also heard that after arriving here, the man had converted to some Empire Truth and went to attend classes at the Church every day.

Thinking of that, Old Vance felt somewhat disdainful.

He had been a carpenter all his life, and he had never heard of anyone becoming better at their work by praying at a Church.

With that thought in mind, he looked up and happened to see the security guard take out a copy of the Holy Scripture and open it.

Heh, what use was opening the Holy Scripture now? Could it possibly say when the tsunami would end?

"The tsunami will end in five minutes. Let's get ready to head down afterward," the security guard said as he flipped through the book without even looking up.

His head was full of question marks.

Old Vance became more and more convinced that he had probably gone mad.

The people in the safe house did not seem particularly nervous. They gathered in small groups to chat, and when the sound of waves came from outside, they all moved to the windows and looked out.
