"Hey, Rebecca, you walk in front." Old Vance chuckled and reached out to smooth her wolfskin coat before taking a step back.

Rebecca looked at her father helplessly, both annoyed and amused.

Of course she knew what he meant—he wanted to show off in front of their former neighbors.

Their family had left their hometown and relocated somewhere a thousand miles away. Naturally, they hoped to return home in glory.

Old Vance had only been a poor carpenter. He had guarded the family carpentry shop and toiled away for most of his life, yet he had still never managed to buy his daughter a wolfskin coat.

Rebecca had initially found it a little embarrassing, but seeing her father grin from ear to ear, she could not bear to spoil his mood. So she gritted her teeth and walked at the front.

The town was still much the same as before, with little change. After all, they had only been gone for half a year.

Yet as they looked at the scene, identical to their memories, all of them frowned.

They had not thought much of it before, but after going to Blood Port, the city before them... no, perhaps it did not really qualify as a city, only a town... suddenly seemed far too awful.

Its shabbiness was secondary. The main issue was... filth.
