Background

As Pope, Qian Xunji recognized Hals's strength and loyalty but treated him as a useful subordinate. He refused to name Hals the Holy Son, instead promising him command of Spirit Hall's shadow army and ordering him to serve and unconditionally assist the Holy Maiden, Bibi Dong 1.

He assigned Hals to escort Bibi Dong during her hunt for a fourth Soul Ring, while Bibi Dong already found her teacher's gaze unsettling and desired 2. Later, he used Hals's purge of dissident elders to eliminate troublesome figures within Spirit Hall while also placing Hals in danger through their opposition 23.

After confirming that Hals had become a Soul Douluo, Qian Xunji sent him to infiltrate the Star Luo Empire. Publicly, the mission served his ambition to make Spirit Hall the continent's dominant organization; Hals concluded that separating him from Bibi Dong was Qian Xunji's real objective 24 25.

With Hals absent, Qian Xunji brought Bibi Dong to obtain her seventh Soul Ring and openly revealed his desire to force her to bear his heir. Bibi Dong resisted and called Hals through her bracelet after Qian Xunji severely injured her 63. Hals arrived, fought Qian Xunji, and killed him with a final attack of countless spears 65 66.

Three years after his death, Qian Xunji's soul remained bound to his corpse in Hals's Black Mist World. Hals forcibly reanimated the corpse into a five-meter monster, leaving Qian Xunji conscious but unable to speak or control its actions 99 100.

Qian Xunji is a grim, perpetually gloomy man whose dark expression contrasts with the splendor of the papal hall. He is later described as luxuriously dressed, and his corpse is identified as middle-aged 2 63 99.

Qian Xunji is authoritarian and calculating. He uses his position as Pope to command obedience, manipulate internal factions, and pursue Spirit Hall's continental expansion 1 23 24.

He is intensely arrogant in battle, repeatedly dismissing Hals as an “ant” even after Hals proves capable of threatening him 65 66. His treatment of Bibi Dong reveals possessiveness and cruelty: he frames his desires as justified by his authority as Pope and attempts to overpower her when she refuses him 63.
