There's a saying: Heaven helps those who help themselves.
As long as you keep working at it, success will come eventually.
And so, after more than a week of tireless searching by Bai Chuan, one day, he finally found a sleeping python in a rocky underground cave.
The giant snake's entire body was brownish-tan, with a brown arrow-shaped pattern on its head.
Its back was mostly yellow, covered in irregular large cloud-like brown patches, and its belly was white.
On both sides of the cloaca near the tail, a pair of degenerated claw-like remnants were faintly visible.
Clearly, this was a Burmese Python, the second-largest snake in the python family, with the Reticulated Python being the first.
"It wasn't easy, but I finally found you."
Bai Chuan let out a soft sigh as he looked at the massive python coiled into a disc-like shape, his tone carrying both bitterness and surprise.
He stared in awe at the enormous snake, marveling at how nature could create such a beautiful creature.
Even though the python wasn't fully stretched out, Bai Chuan could tell how massive it was.
Its length easily surpassed his own 5.5 meters; he estimated it was close to 7 meters long, and its thickness was shockingly comparable to the waist of a normal adult human.
Compared to it, Bai Chuan's body looked like a malnourished bean sprout—no contest at all.
That comparison might not give you a real sense of it.
According to reliable recorded measurements, a 4.74-meter Eye King normally weighs only about 16.5 kilograms, or 33 jin.
Bai Chuan, now 5.5 meters long and having evolved countless abilities, weighed an astonishing over 40 kilograms.
Yet a 7-meter Burmese Python starts at 91 kilograms...
Comparing the two: 90 jin versus 182 jin.
It's roughly like a 1.6-meter-tall girl weighing 90 jin going up against a 1.8-meter-tall giant weighing 182 jin.
A total beauty-and-the-beast scenario.
But today, such a powerful creature was destined to become Bai Chuan's food.
It's worth noting how strong yet fragile snakes are.
If this terrifying python were still in its normal state and Bai Chuan encountered it, he'd turn and retreat without a second thought.
He wouldn't even consider a direct confrontation—the risk was far too great.
Even with his electricity-generating ability, once a python had him wrapped up, using electricity would only make it constrict harder.
Like that old video of a crocodile and an Electric Eel taking each other out—once bitten or coiled, the more you shock, the faster you die.
Because from the moment of electrocution, the opponent can't let go, just like a person can't save themselves when electrified.
Of course, if he were well-prepared and ambushed it with his current strength, killing it might be possible.
But again, the risk was too high, and the reward wasn't worth the gamble.
"What a pity." Bai Chuan chuckled inwardly at this behemoth. "No matter how strong you are, you can't defy a snake's nature. Now you're lying here, waiting to be killed."
After seven whole days of searching, the moment of harvest had finally arrived.
"Let yourself become nourishment on my path of growth!"
Bai Chuan's eyes gleamed with ferocity as he silently approached the python, whispering in his heart.
The next moment, from the shadows, a pitch-black venomous snake slowly materialized out of thin air.
Its deadly jaws opened wide, razor-sharp fangs extended, and aimed at the seven-inch spot—
Bite!
The hard, sharp fangs pierced through flesh like tofu in an instant.
Golden, lethal venom began to spread rapidly, like a spiderweb racing wildly through the python's body.
At the same time, the terrifying claws beneath Bai Chuan shot out, sinking deep into the flesh as if tearing through paper.
Then, a continuous "hiss-hiss" sound rang out.
It was the sound of flesh being sliced open inch by inch by the claws—eerie yet carrying a strange rhythm.
From this assault, the sleeping python finally woke up in agony.
But it was the dead of winter; its snake body, already sluggish from the cold, had grown stiff and weak, and after such a long time, it was starving.
With icy blood, a stiff and powerless body torn open by wounds deep enough to see bone, and the mixed venom already taking effect—neurotoxins suppressing its respiratory system, hemotoxins hindering blood vessels and heart—
What could it do with a body like this?
Not to mention that the moment it woke, Bai Chuan released his bite, tore his claws free with a vicious yank, and retreated far away, watching it intently from a distance.
In the end, it could only die slowly in agony.
To its last breath, it never understood how a similar-looking creature could be so lively in such freezing weather.
Too bad—it would never get the chance to know.
After confirming the python was completely dead, Bai Chuan waited a moment longer, then used his sharp claws to pick up a few stones and toss them as a test before slowly approaching.
Once he got close, he first struck out with a claw, releasing a burst of electricity. Only after seeing the body twitch with the normal reaction of flesh meeting current did he relax.
Such a powerful creature—he had to be cautious.
But now, how was he supposed to drag this snake back to his cave?
He thought it over and simply decided to stay right here, leaving only after he'd eaten his fill.
This massive thing would last him several days, and fortunately, the weather kept the meat from spoiling easily.
Having made up his mind, Bai Chuan went at it with both claws, tearing off bloody chunks of snake flesh and gulping them down.
This was the eating method he'd adopted ever since growing claws—the snake way of swallowing everything whole was too slow, and the process was dangerous.
Not like now: tear a piece, swallow a piece.
If something unexpected happened, he could stop instantly and react.
Plus, eating this way made digestion easier, and his point growth rate picked up considerably.
It was incredibly convenient.
That said, he used to find bloody chunks of meat unbearable as a human, but now he felt no disgust at all—in fact, he thought the texture was pretty good, eating with genuine relish.
What was this?
Was his snake body and instinct influencing his consciousness?
Bai Chuan wasn't sure, but it felt fine.
Over the next few days, Bai Chuan lived more comfortably than ever. A seven-meter-long python meant an enormous amount of meat.
And thanks to the weather, that much meat didn't spoil easily, letting him go days without worrying about food. For the first time, he had the leisure to step outside and enjoy the snowy scenery.
The "Ravenous Digestion" ability, which had been dormant for days, kicked back into gear, sending his slowing point growth rate soaring once more.
But this comfortable life didn't last long. In just four days, the giant python vanished completely under Bai Chuan's relentless devouring.
