As the perimeter wall shattered and collapsed, the herd of monsters outside surged in through the breach.
Leading the charge was the Boar-type Monster that had been the most dreaded sight in the surveillance room. Its fur now shimmered with a faint metallic luster, and its forehead and body were covered in numerous wounds—the result of ramming the wall and the subsequent explosive blasts.
Most of the monsters that had survived were of this thick-skinned, sturdy variety; the rest had largely perished in the explosions.
Among the thirty-some monsters, nearly ten were of the porcine variety, with a similar number of Bovine-type Monsters, while the remainder consisted of a few Canine-type and a small number of Cat-type Monsters.
Fortunately, these monsters were covered in wounds, meaning their combat effectiveness should be significantly depleted.
Nearly two hundred personnel were gathered within the walls, each wielding a weapon—high-quality armaments procured earlier. These weapons glinted with a cold light, as if they would not rest until they had tasted blood.
Among the crowd, the individuals with the strongest combat foundations were the board members present. Under their leadership, the crowd began to charge forward.
Each board member engaged one monster, accounting for four of them, while the remaining monsters were confronted by the other employees in groups of six.
However, monsters were monsters, and humans were humans; the gap between the two was self-evident.
The physical strength of the monsters was beyond the reach of humans, yet the intelligence of humans was beyond the reach of the monsters.
Although the board members held their ground against the monsters, they were unable to secure kills and were gradually sustaining injuries themselves.
While the employees were not inflicting massive damage, they were steadily attacking the monsters' existing wounds, causing them to widen continuously.
In the midst of the struggle, the Boar-type Monster fighting Lin Chenxing suddenly let out a howl and kicked its hind legs backward, but it was a futile gesture—there was no one behind it.
As it turned out, after purchasing the weapons, Xingyan Group had selected several employees with exceptional accuracy in archery and had them lie in ambush on the perimeter to provide support when the opportunity arose.
This arrow had struck the Boar-type Monster squarely in the rear.
The kick disrupted the monster's attack rhythm, and Lin Chenxing seized the moment to thrust his spear forward, piercing the beast's eye.
The agony of a punctured eye was not easily endured, and the Boar-type Monster's offensive maneuvers devolved into desperate thrashing.
Seeing this, Lin Chenxing began to twist the spear shaft, the tip churning within the monster's eye socket. Blood gushed out, and the monster's struggles gradually slowed.
"Finally killed one." Lin Chenxing leaned on his knee with one hand, the other gripping the spear handle. He looked around, only to realize that the one he had just killed was the first one they had taken down since the herd broke through.
Instantly, Lin Chenxing felt a headache coming on. Despite his exhaustion, he had to muster his remaining strength to help the others finish off the remaining monsters quickly.
If the wall wasn't plugged, more monsters could enter at any moment, and then everyone would be in danger.
Lin Chenxing noticed that the employees working in teams were actually doing fine; they could slowly grind the monsters down. However, the board members were in the worst shape, all having sustained injuries, with Ma Tianxing in the most dire condition.
The monster Ma Tianxing was facing was a Cat-type Monster, twice the size of a normal cat with exceptionally large ears. Every time Ma Tianxing swung his axe, the monster's ears would twitch, and it would narrowly dodge the strike.
Ma Tianxing's battle with the Cat-type Monster could be described as being toyed with; consequently, his stamina was waning, and the force of his axe swings had weakened.
Lin Chenxing raised his spear and leaned back, the tip dragging along the ground and kicking up sparks as he charged toward the Cat-type Monster. Upon closing the distance, he seized the opportunity to thrust his spear toward the beast's flank.
However, the Cat-type Monster's ears twitched again, and it shifted its body to the side, the spear tip grazing past it.
Seeing this, Lin Chenxing paused his stride, pressed his spear down, then lifted it, swinging it toward the Cat-type Monster's abdomen.
At this moment, Ma Tianxing saw his chance and brought both axes down toward the monster's spine.
Caught in a pincer attack, the Cat-type Monster tried to leap through the gap, but it was still struck. A massive gash was carved into its back, its abdomen was slightly deformed, and blood began to seep from its mouth as its speed slowed significantly.
Seeing this, the two men immediately moved in—one hacking at the cat's head, the other slamming the spear shaft into the wound on its spine.
The Cat-type Monster finally had nowhere to run and died on the spot.
Ma Tianxing gripped his axe handle, pushed himself up, and looked at Lin Chenxing, panting heavily as he said, "Chenxing, thanks to you this time, otherwise I would have lost my life here."
Lin Chenxing smiled dismissively and leaned on his spear. "Let's not talk about that. We need to help the others finish off these monsters quickly."
Ma Tianxing nodded and said, "Then leave Old Gao to you; I'll head over to Old He."
Lin Chenxing agreed and immediately charged toward Gao Zheng with his spear in hand.
Seeing Lin Chenxing's swift and decisive actions, Ma Tianxing smiled and prepared to rush toward He Qishun.
However, He Qishun seemed to have received some form of assistance; the monster he was fighting paused, and He Qishun seized the chance to slide beneath it, slicing open its belly. The monster didn't make it more than a few steps before collapsing and dying.
He Qishun lifted his blade, propped himself up on the ground, and looked at the approaching Ma Tianxing. He waved with a smile, pointing toward the board member Guo Qichang, who was still locked in a fierce battle.
Ma Tianxing immediately turned and rushed toward Guo Qichang.
Guo Qichang was the first among all the board members to start practicing martial arts, but he was most skilled in fist and palm techniques, which put him at a slight disadvantage against the monsters.
At this moment, wearing a pair of brass knuckles, he held one of the bull's horns with one hand, his body pressed against the beast's head, while his other hand hammered punch after punch into the Bovine-type Monster's skull.
The Bovine-type Monster's eyes were bloodshot, its head bowed under Guo Qichang's force, yet its body continued to push forward with relentless effort.
Without external interference, the battle between man and beast would likely continue until one of them collapsed from exhaustion.
Ma Tianxing approached from behind the bull and brought his axe down directly onto its leg.
The leg snapped upon impact, and the Bovine-type Monster lost its center of gravity and its leverage, toppling over in the direction of the strike.
Guo Qichang seized the opportunity, flipped onto the monster's back, and hammered punch after punch into the bull's head, creating wound after wound. The skull began to shatter, the area of impact slowly caving in, and the Bovine-type Monster gradually stopped moving.
Yet, Guo Qichang remained cautious, continuing to strike a few more times before realizing the Bovine-type Monster had completely lost its life. Only then did he slowly fall backward, gasping for air.
