"Hey, why are you still following us?"
As they walked, Nan Fusheng turned to look at Lan Fozi, who was following close on their heels, his face full of confusion. "Haven't you already met Gu Yuena? Now that your wish has come true, shouldn't you be satisfied? Why aren't you going back to your own place?"
"None of your business!" Lan Fozi immediately glared at him, her tone distinctly displeased.
In truth, she had considered leaving the moment she met Gu Yuena. But seeing how eager Nan Fusheng was to have her disappear stirred up her stubborn streak.
"I'm here to protect Miss Gu Yuena." Lan Fozi curled her lip and looked up at Nan Fusheng, her voice deliberately mocking. "You're a grown man going to a hotel for dinner with a bunch of girls. What if your animal instincts take over?"
She paused, looked Nan Fusheng up and down, and added, "Granted, with your half-baked skills, even if you did harbor any improper intentions, you'd probably just get beaten until you were crawling around looking for your teeth.
"But as Miss Gu Yuena's suitor, I can't simply stand by. No one else would even have to lift a finger. I could knock some sense into you myself."
Nan Fusheng's expression darkened, and he gave her a hostile look. "Hey, are you deliberately asking for a beating?"
"Who beats whom remains to be seen." Lan Fozi met his gaze without backing down, a flicker of eagerness flashing in her azure eyes. "What, want to trade a few blows with me? Don't worry, I still owe you that favor. I'll go easy on you."
At that, Nan Fusheng suddenly bent down and scooped Nahida into his arms, a contemptuous smile crossing his face. "That's hilarious. Why would I fight you one-on-one?
