This was a letter to all of you. I'd originally planned to write it when Red Heart Patrolling the Heavens became a premium title.
But by chance, I saw another question about Red Heart on Zhihu today, so I decided to write this letter early.
Forgive me for not having time to revise the wording. I'm just copying over my original answer from Zhihu. If I don't get back to writing my novel, the update the day after tomorrow will be in danger...
But please believe that every word comes from the heart.
The question was: [A year has passed. How should Red Heart Patrolling the Heavens be fairly evaluated?]
My answer, in full, was as follows:
Thank you for your concern and support.
But I hadn't wanted to answer this question. There were three reasons.
First, I simply couldn't evaluate my own work objectively. I'm partial to every word I write. My assessment of my own work has no objective value. If I had to say something, it would still be what I said a year ago: [The only thing I can be sure of is that I'll write every word with care. I can't be sure whether anyone will love them. I can be sure of the effort I put in, but not of what I'll gain.]
Even now, I still can't be sure whether more people will come to love it, or what I'll gain.
But I think I've spent a year and written 1.8 million words proving how much care and effort I've put into it.
Second, questions like this scare me. I won't deny it: I'm genuinely afraid. A year ago, when I was invited to answer that question about Red Heart Patrolling the Heavens, I'd only written five chapters. And the three answers
