Inside the cooking classroom.
"Report! One hundred repetitions completed!"
Baron Batchel shouted with great spirit.
"Very good. Now, tell me everything you know about this school."
Dekan stood by the window, gazing at the scenery outside as he spoke.
Just moments ago, Dekan had been wandering around the cooking classroom, inspecting his surroundings.
He had discovered that outside the windows lay a bottomless abyss.
The entire school seemed to be a small, isolated island suspended over purgatory.
It appeared that running off the map was not an option.
"May I ask what kind of information you are looking for?"
Baron Batchel asked, his voice trembling slightly.
He was terrified that spouting nonsense would provoke Dekan.
Dekan thought for a moment, then walked over to Cornelia, who was currently stepping on Baron Batchel.
He fished the red Demon Pass out of Cornelia's pocket and waved it in front of the Baron's eyes.
"What is this used for?"
Dekan asked.
"That is a Demon Pass, awarded by teachers to outstanding students. If you hold one and encounter the Dean in the hallway during class hours, you can hand it over to him—it grants immunity from one attack, and the Dean will not target you again for half an hour," Baron Batchel replied.
"Do you have a Demon Pass?"
"I have one."
"Where is it?"
"In my jacket pocket."
"Understood."
Dekan had no intention of letting the Baron up just yet to retrieve the pass.
Although Baron Batchel had been subdued, this spineless, opportunistic demon could not be fully trusted.
Dekan's body was fragile; if given a single opening, the Baron could easily kill him.
Even though Dekan was already wearing the Crown of Thorns, he still preferred to avoid the pain.
Dekan said, "Next, tell me the location of every facility in this school, as well as the characteristics of the teaching staff."
Baron Batchel hesitated for a moment before answering, "...I don't know the other teachers entirely, as the faculty in this school changes quite frequently."
It seemed the mortality rate for teachers at this school was rather high.
"Then do you know who the strongest teacher in the school is?"
Dekan asked.
"Without a doubt, it is the Principal. However, the Principal is not always on campus; he only appears at random intervals. This means there are times when teachers, pushed to their limits, might take desperate risks and ignore the rules. Furthermore, the Principal only hunts down teachers who violate the rules," Baron Batchel answered.
Dekan nodded.
This meant that while the rules could be used to counter the teachers, forcing a teacher to their death using those rules would be difficult.
If they were going to die either way, they would undoubtedly choose to fight to the death.
However, Dekan also felt a bit puzzled.
If the Principal hunted teachers and didn't threaten students, he likely wasn't the boss.
If the Principal wasn't the boss, could there be other dangerous faculty members?
"Besides the Principal and the Dean, are there any other particularly dangerous or overpowered staff members?"
Although he had already completed the second objective, Dekan was still very concerned about information regarding the boss.
If he felt confident, he would attempt to clear the boss room.
The rewards for clearing a Shadow World were linked to the final evaluation one received.
It was also tied to the enemies defeated, the deeds accomplished, and the loot secured within the Shadow World.
If he didn't clear the boss room, even if he finished the instance, the rewards would be a tier lower.
In any other type of Shadow World, Dekan wouldn't be so greedy for rewards.
But this was a demon-themed Shadow World.
If he could achieve an SSS rating and clear the boss room, there was a high probability of obtaining extremely rare demon-type materials or items.
They might very well be useful for repairing the Master.
Only for the sake of his Master would Dekan ever consider taking such a risk.
Of course, his Master certainly would not want Dekan to risk his life either.
If it were too dangerous, Dekan would still rationally choose to abandon the Boss Room.
Baron Batchel thought for a moment and said, "I have heard... that Miss Olive in the Demon Academy laboratory is always conducting some terrifying experiments. There are even rumors that she frequently disregards school rules, yet she has never been caught by the principal."
A laboratory?
Terrifying experiments?
Doesn't that fit perfectly?
This demon named Olive is highly likely the demon mentioned in the quest who torments humans!
The human who needs to be rescued is likely in her laboratory as well.
If nothing goes wrong, this must be the Boss Room.
"Continue."
"That is all. The Demon Laboratory is very far from the cooking classroom; we have almost no interaction."
"...Then, describe the school map, classroom information, and any teacher intelligence you know for me."
Baron Batchel spent nearly half an hour relaying information to Dekan.
During this time, Dekan sat at the long table, recording and organizing the intelligence based on Baron Batchel's testimony.
He roughly sketched out a map, covering it with annotations.
"It's truly absurd. This is the first time I've seen a school where you have to interrogate teachers to gain knowledge. I'm exhausted."
After determining that there was no more valuable information to be gained from Baron Batchel.
Dekan put down his pen, leaned back in his chair, and stretched.
Hearing Dekan's lament, Cornelia wanted to say something but held back.
Even in the Demon Academy.
Things like "students learning by interrogating teachers" shouldn't normally happen.
Dekan looked at Cornelia and smiled, "Cornelia, thank you for your hard work."
Ever since capturing Baron Batchel, Cornelia had been suppressing him, maintaining the hold for nearly an hour.
"It was easy."
Cornelia replied.
She didn't even feel the slightest bit tired.
As long as she didn't have to use her brain, she considered it a leisure activity.
"Lastly, I'll have to trouble you to help him lose his memory."
Dekan said to Cornelia.
"How do you make a demon lose their memory?"
Cornelia asked, somewhat puzzled.
She had never learned any mental or soul-related magic.
Dekan smiled without answering, and under Baron Batchel's terrified gaze, he summoned the Ruined Poet.
Cornelia frowned slightly, lost in thought.
She blinked her eyes.
Suddenly, she seemed to have a realization.
Following that, Cornelia gripped the hammer handle with both hands and, without hesitation, smashed it down onto Baron Batchel's head.
"BOOM!!!"
The entire classroom emitted a deafening sound as if the floor were about to collapse.
Baron Batchel's head was driven into the floor, and spiderweb-like cracks spread out from the center.
This blow didn't crush Baron Batchel's head, but it did break the warhammer.
The entire handle bent, reverting into an unusable card.
Cornelia pressed her toe against the prone Baron Batchel and lightly flipped him over.
He was rolling his eyes back, having completely passed out.
"Is he still breathing?"
Dekan asked.
"Yes, he just fainted."
Cornelia could still sense the aura of life from Baron Batchel.
This demon, at least of the Fifth Tier, possessed a remarkably sturdy body and immense vitality.
However, after taking a full-force headshot from Cornelia, compounded by twenty times the pain, he was likely half-witted even if he hadn't lost his memory.
"Good, may the Buddha have mercy."
Dekan lightly raised one hand in a palm salute and sighed.
Baron Batchel was still useful; he could not be allowed to expire just yet.
"Where to next?"
Cornelia asked, no longer paying any mind to Baron Batchel on the ground.
Dekan checked the time; approximately two hours and four minutes had passed since the start of the instance.
There were twenty-six minutes remaining until the next bell rang.
"Let's rest for half an hour first; you should eat something as well."
Dekan said to Cornelia.
There was no need for them to go out and take risks right now.
Moreover, they truly needed a break.
After all, when coming out to experience life, one must balance work and leisure.
