"Not bad, you didn't disappoint me."
Tang Luo looked at Jack and nodded slightly.
"Not bad, disappointed?" Jack froze for a moment, then resumed his sinister grin, "Is this your last word?"
He did not know.
Tang Luo's words were, in fact, completely sincere.
The Resurrected One before him was "evil" in its purest form.
Eliminating such a creature of pure evil corruption would inevitably yield a substantial amount of Merit.
Whether it be ghosts reeking of resentment or crazed demonic beasts, they were all the same as the Resurrected One before him.
They belonged to the category of pure evil corruption.
Even the most wicked of "humans," such as Jack standing nearby, had a certain possibility of "laying down the butcher's knife."
One could choose to truly convert him to gain Merit.
Of course, this option basically did not exist for Tang Luo.
He only performed physical conversion; even if it were spiritual conversion, it was still physical conversion.
But for a creature of pure evil corruption like this, it was truly loathed by all things in heaven and earth.
It did not even have the qualification to "exist," nor was there any room for negotiation.
Let alone Tang Luo.
Even Tathagata would not ask such a thing to lay down its butcher's knife.
Under similar circumstances, the Merit gained from eliminating such a thing was far greater than that of ordinary punishment of evil.
While they were speaking.
The Resurrected One "disposed" of Scott with exaggerated speed.
It casually grabbed a mangled corpse at its feet and began to feed again.
However, this time, it only tore at it twice before stopping its movements.
Because Tang Luo had truly looked at it, locking his gaze upon it.
The Resurrected One dropped the corpse in its hand and looked at Tang Luo, as a certain unfamiliar emotion gradually birthed within its chaotic and crazed mind.
A feeling that had never appeared before.
This emotion was primitive and ancient.
It was called "fear"!
Of course, fear did not mean the Resurrected One would flee.
On the contrary, this unprecedented emotional sensation made it become violent.
Instinct urged the Resurrected One to drop the food in its hand and grab the electric chair nearby.
The heavy chair, firmly bolted to the floor, felt like a small pebble in the hands of the Resurrected One, easily gripped.
If not for the massive doses of anesthetics and even lethal drugs injected into it, this cell would never have been able to contain such terrifying strength.
"Whoosh—"
Accompanied by a dull whistling sound, the electric chair was hurled at Tang Luo.
In mid-air, various parts flew everywhere.
They landed with a clatter, followed by the sound of metal striking the ground.
Fragments of the electric chair shattered and splattered.
Jack let out a miserable scream; unfortunately, he was struck in the arm by a fragment, adding another gruesome wound to his body.
As for Tang Luo, he was standing right beside the electric chair.
It appeared as if he had never moved at all.
It looked as though the Resurrected One had thrown the chair off-target, and the fragments had just happened to fly past him.
He was lucky to the extreme.
"Ha, ha."
After his scream, Jack began to laugh.
He was very satisfied with the sight of this detective being so frightened that he couldn't move.
Jack had said that Tang Luo had ruined everything for him.
Because even if the Resurrected One followed its instincts and tore Tang Luo to shreds, what would happen after that?
The Resurrected One would leave this place, and neither Jack nor the organization would be able to capture such a monster.
Even destroying it would be difficult.
Let alone reacquiring this one-of-a-kind specimen to continue advancing toward the gates of immortality on such a foundation.
Furthermore, this man's two companions had already left.
Everything about the organization would be exposed.
Even if those big shots with eyes reaching the heavens had the means to distance themselves, he, Jack White, was already ruined.
Jack hoped that Tang Luo would feel boundless terror before he died.
His despair, his rage—he would pay it back a thousandfold!
"Kill him!"
"Kill him!"
Ignoring the wounds on his body, Jack roared at the top of his lungs.
He certainly could not command the Resurrected One.
But the "loud roaring of a brat" would undoubtedly provoke a monster like the Resurrected One.
Jack carried a scent that the Resurrected One detested.
With Tang Luo, a living human, still present, the Resurrected One would not make him the primary target.
Of course, there was also a certain possibility of being crushed to death by something thrown by the Resurrected One.
Therefore, Jack's position was quite clever.
He leaned against the base of the stone platform, curling himself up with only his head exposed to watch.
A shrill, miserable cry like that of an infant erupted from the Resurrected One's mouth, sounding somewhat like a cat's wail.
This was its voice.
Tang Luo bent down and picked something up from the "ruins of the electric chair" at his feet.
He tossed it up and down, weighing it.
It was a helmet, used to secure the head for electrotherapy.
Professor Yang style.
Without even pulling back his arm, he flicked his wrist!
The Resurrected One's screeching stopped, and the sound of stone shattering and hitting the ground rang out simultaneously.
The helmet that had been in Tang Luo's hand a second ago was now embedded into the wall.
The Resurrected One's head, meanwhile, had been reduced to a spray of blood and gore.
The gore even splattered onto the ceiling overhead.
Jack's roaring came to an abrupt halt.
"Your 'vitality' is quite tenacious."
Tang Luo looked at the Resurrected One.
The headless monster did not fall; it remained standing in place.
Granules of flesh sprouted from its neck, dancing and intertwining like vipers.
A moment later, it actually regrew a head.
The only difference from before was that the few remaining strands of hair had fallen out completely!
How miserable!
"ROAR!"
The Resurrected One let out a sky-shaking howl, and a faint ripple could even be seen flashing across the top of its head.
The room was filled with its roar, creating overlapping echoes that made Jack's ears ache with sharp pain.
Before the roaring had fully ceased, the Resurrected One strode forward on its thick legs, charging toward Tang Luo.
Its gait was not particularly fast, but its massive frame granted it impressive movement speed.
In three strides, it reached Tang Luo, looming over him.
Its right hand rose, five fingers splayed and curled!
Like five black scimitars, they clawed viciously at Tang Luo!
The speed that erupted in an instant turned the Resurrected One's palm into a blur.
Unlike the deafening roar, the high-speed movement of the palm and the sharp tips of its fingers caused the air to friction, emitting a piercing, shrill whistle.
It felt as if a needle were desperately drilling into his ears.
Jack clutched his ears in agony, his palms already feeling the wetness of blood.
Yet he still stared with wide eyes, watching Tang Luo.
He wanted to see this man die with his own eyes!
Tang Luo clenched his right hand into a fist, pulled it slightly back to his waist, and then, swung it out.
The air was forcibly displaced by a tremendous force.
It formed a shockwave, a gale that swept through the basement.
Jack's wide eyes instinctively closed as he heard the sound of something "splat" onto the floor.
He opened his eyes.
He saw an exaggeratedly thin, long, grayish-white arm lying before him.
The five fingers were still curled in the posture of a scimitar.
Like an old machine grinding into motion, Jack struggled to lift his chin and turn his head.
He saw the Resurrected One, now reduced to only a third of its torso and two legs, slowly toppling over.
The rest of its body had been transformed into a sky full of flesh and gore, spread out in a fan shape.
It covered the space behind where the Resurrected One had stood.
Tang Luo glanced at the corpse of the Resurrected One, withdrew his gaze, and walked toward Jack.
Jack kicked his legs in terror.
He slammed into a protruding edge of the stone platform and fell back onto the ground.
"Don't come over..."
Jack's back was pressed tightly against the stone platform; there was nowhere left to retreat.
Or rather, he no longer had the courage to even flee to either side.
In Jack's mind, the person before him had become a monster even more terrifying than the Resurrected One.
He was merely wearing a layer of human skin.
Jack finally understood what had happened to that heavy table embedded in the wall.
Tang Luo squatted down, then wiped his fingers on a relatively clean part of Jack's clothes.
He wiped away the bits of uncongealed blood and grease from his fingertips.
Standing back up, Tang Luo said to Jack, "Good and evil have their rewards; benefactor, this poor monk shall now send you to the Western Paradise."
"Wha—"
Jack's voice came to an abrupt halt, and his eyes quickly dimmed.
Outside the psychiatric hospital.
Zhou Zhenguo pulled out a cigarette from somewhere unknown and was puffing away.
"Xiao Chu, stop pacing, you're making me dizzy."
In front of him, Xiao Chu was pacing back and forth incessantly.
"Uncle Zhou, I'm thinking, did we miss something?" Xiao Chu said.
"Miss what?" Zhou Zhenguo asked in return.
"The rewards! Aside from the direct rewards after completing the mission, there are the benefits we could have picked up during the process!"
Xiao Chu said, "Do you think this organization might have had some good stuff for us to take?"
"Perhaps."
Zhou Zhenguo was noncommittal.
"They pursue immortality and conduct human experiments; they might have already made some breakthroughs. Things like human enhancement serums or mutation technologies," Xiao Chu said, looking heartbroken, as if he had lost a fortune.
He had only thought of this after coming out.
"Maybe there really were some," Zhou Zhenguo said. "Look at those big guys, every one of them had a physique like a bodybuilder; isn't that normal?"
"..." Xiao Chu was very sad.
Once, an opportunity to make big money had been placed before him.
He hadn't cherished it, and only regretted it after it was lost.
What? Why was it lost?
Nonsense, Master Xuanzang was still inside.
Whatever benefits there were, they had surely been taken by Master Xuanzang.
Xiao Chu didn't have the thick skin, nor the strength, to wait for Tang Luo to come out and share the spoils.
After a while, the small iron door pushed open, and Tang Luo walked out.
He looked no different than when he had entered.
"Master, are there any ambushes inside? Is it dangerous?" Xiao Chu asked.
"No, it's not dangerous," Tang Luo replied truthfully.
A Resurrected One who could be hammered to death with a single punch, a self-righteous provider of merit.
Dangerous?
It didn't exist.
Not only was it not dangerous, but because of the target's many evil deeds, it provided Tang Luo with the most merit he had received since entering this mission world.
Following his usual practice, he held back a portion as a reserve and used the rest to heal his injuries.
The results were quite impressive.
Originally, to avoid aggravating his wounds, Tang Luo could only exert about five percent of his strength.
Going beyond that wasn't to say he couldn't fight.
But it would worsen his condition.
After this treatment with the power of merit, Tang Luo's "injury-free limit" successfully increased to 6%, which was a cause for celebration.
It could also be considered as having recovered 6% of his injuries.
Rounding it up, that's like recovering a hundred million!
Because of this, a warm smile appeared on Tang Luo's face.
Seeing this, Xiao Chu beat his chest and stomped his feet, wishing he could go back ten minutes and beat himself up for choosing to leave.
Everyone casting a recommendation vote is equivalent to casting a hundred million. There has never been such a good deal; aren't you tempted?
